It doesn't neccessarily have to be exactly true to the source material, but without a developed rounded character lead, a comic book movie is just a lot of explosions and flashy graphics. _____ #7 (Started it all for The Avengers!) IronMan (2008) [+1 Rank, 94 Points] Iron Man is a 2008 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is the first installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Iron Manfilm series. Directed by Jon Favreau, the film stars Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark, an industrialist and master engineer who builds a powered exoskeleton and becomes the technologically advanced superhero Iron Man. Metacritic - 82 _____ What makes a good comic book movie to you? rukaio101 - A good comic book movie is a movie based on a comic book which is also good. There's no particular rules a comic book movie needs to follow that a regular movie shouldn't also follow. Punishment - Special effects followed closely by the story. Steve Rogers - The same thing is any other movie, really. How well the script works, the direction, the acting, the cinematography, etc. I don't really hold comic book adaptations to a different standard. _____ #5 (Possibly the best movie in the entire series) X2: X-Men United (2003) [+1 Rank, 112 Points] X2 (often promoted as X2: X-Men United, or internationally as X-Men 2[2][3]) is a 2003 American superhero film, based on the fictional characters the X-Men. Directed by Bryan Singer, it is the second film in the X-Men film series. Metacritic - 78 B J: - Yet again another outstanding villain in Bane, and excellent portrayal of the semi-villain turned good in Catwoman - Batman overcame the impossible and won, because he's Batman Squaremaster316: A climactic trilogy closer that does justice to numerous characters that were mishandled in other installments to the genre and curb stomps the trilogy curse for CBM's into the ground. _____ What makes a good comicbook movie to you? Simionski - I think that the story is the key factor, if it resonates with me I don’t mind the minor flaws and am able to enjoy the movie at its best. Frozen2014 - interesting Blankments - Story is key when it comes to movies in general, and it means even more for comic book movies. Without a good story, there is no point at all. Druv10 - The story, action, score, staying true to the comics and good balance of action and story. _____ #3 (Possibly the best origin story!) Batman Begins (2005) [N/C 183 Points] Batman Begins is a 2005 British-American superhero film based on the fictional DC Comics character Batman, co-written and directed by Christopher Nolan. It stars Christian Bale as Batman along with Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Katie Holmes, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman. The film reboots the Batman film series, telling the origin story of the character from Bruce Wayne's initial fear of bats, the death of his parents, his journey to become Batman, and his fight against Ra's al Ghul's plot to destroy Gotham City. You can actually follow the action, which feels like a comic book come to life. _____ What makes a good comic book movie to you? B J - Movie must stay as true to the character as possible within the confines of the story. the Protagonist(s) and Antagonist(s) must be the driving force of the story Omario - A good portrayal of the drive of the character.what makes him put on a suit and become a hero. A great villain, maybe even greater than the hero. to show a hero fight against a greater power...and against all odds come out the victor. That is what the audience wishes to see. What sacrifices are made by the hero to achieve victory. cory - Momentum, viscerality and electricity. When things happen, I want them to pop. _____ #1 (Of course. I don't read the comics so I wouldn't know, I just see a lot of people parade about how much better DC is at villains and the only DC villain (of the movies) I find memorable is Heath Ledger's Joker. Well most DC villains haven't gotten the film treatment (and those that have aren't especially good) specifically because of Warner Brothers, Superman's especially have been dumped in the films.
