In its opening weekend in China, the film made $20.18M to take the top spot, accounting for 60% more than Bourne Legacy’s opening and 73% more than The Expendables, a very healthy sign looking forward. Strong holds include South Korea ($1.9M weekend, $42.5M cume) down only 31% in its 7th weekend and Germany ($969K weekend, $5.1M cume ) down only 25% in its 3rd weekend. The opening is on par with Cinderella's (灰姑娘) from 2 weekends ago. The Disney fantasy dropped to third place last weekend thanks to a strong debut from domestic pic Lost and Love (失孤), but jumped back into the second spot this weekend. Cinderella has now mopped up $66.47M in 17 days of release in China. The film held well in its second weekend in China against two domestic pictures, taking third place with a solid $17M/$54.07 cume. Kingsman has also had an outstanding run in South Korea, becoming the ninth highest grossing film in the country with $44.08M in two months of release. BO and BOM are both reporting that Kingsman will be released in Japan, but no word on when. The updated numbers are just through Wednesday, and I think China has $12-$15 million more to add by the end of it's run.
