Hernan Gonzalez
I know its not the right topic but as our neighbor country and central america doesn't have its own thread, I will post it here I found in the most important newspaper of Panama an article about the 2014 box office and they say that we have 5,079,000 admissions in 2014. Thats up almost 5% from 2013 (4.8M) We only have 3.6M habitants so if this is true its a great number for our country and Latinamerica (but still a VERY small country) 2014: 5,079,000 (+5%) 2013: 4,828,601 (+6%) 2012: 4,536,969 (+8%) 2011: 4,200,000 (+5%) 2010: 4,000,000 (+5%) 2009: 3,800,000 Right now we have 12 theaters and 84 screens if this is not the right place you can delete it That´s great Manu!! Central America as a whole is becoming important! I am sure for many movies it represents more than 5% of their gross in Latin America, bigger than Chile, Ecuador and Peru for many movies.
Hernan Gonzalez
Top 5 Weekend: 1- Taken 3, 210795 admissions, new. 2- SpongeBob, 117860 admissions, new. 3- American Sniper, 106878 adm, -37%. Cume: 359572 adm. 4- Jupiter Ascending, 96128 adm, new. 5- Penguins of Madagascar, 52236 adm, -60%. Cume: 866491 adm. Taken 3 opened with good numbers as in every latin american country. SpongeBob 2 did not so good for an animated movie but pushed Big Hero 6 out of the top 20 and made the Penguins fall 60%. American Sniper fell a nice 37% even with the arrival of Taken. And Jupiter only ascended till the 4th place...

Hernan Gonzalez
Top 5 Weekend: 1- Focus, 154577 admissions, new. 2- Kingsman, 66413 adm, -40%. Cume: 227551 adm. 3- Fifty Shades of Grey, 61658 adm, -50%. Cume: 1259153 adm. 4- Taken 3, 31922 adm, -49%. Cume: 724411 adm. 5- Seventh Dwarf, 31811 adm, -29%. Cume: 86761 adm. Good OW for Focus, better than Kingsman last week. Grey should have done enough already to be part of the Top Ten at the end of 2015. It is still the only film that sold more than 1m admissions in Colombia this year, Night at the Museum 3 didn't do it (973k adm), nor Penguins (933k adm) and Taken 3 won't reach 800k, even though that's a good number for that movie.
Rsyu
Columbia box office (1996-2014) in admissions. It seemed to be stable for a long period with growth really starting around 2009-2010. Did something occur in the social-economic environment to trigger box office growth such as new laws implemented etc?

Fullbuster
ff7 over 650k admits Thu-Fri t's really impressive for this market,Colombia is so promsing in terms of growth and potential in Latin America. I just can't wait to see about The Avengers 2! Avengers grossed $11m there in 2012 but given the amazing growth of this market I think $20m is not impossible at all, this is a market to observe that's for sure! keysersoze123
What is the ticket price in Columbia and how has that increased since avengers 1. Currency has depreciated by 50% since Avengers 1 and so that is a big disadvantage. So it needs to grow 250% to hit 20m. Not sure Market has grown that much. Are the multiplexes being added a furious rate like China?

Are the multiplexes being added a furious rate like China? Damn, I'm shocked, I read the Colombian peso lost 40% to the US Dollar over the last nine months The Colombian economy is still one of the most dynamic in Latin America and it's doing pretty well, particularly compared to its Venezuelan neighbor in free fall and its Brazilian neighbor in recession...Its currency should be strong, I really don't understand! Given I didn't know that $20m is probably too much to ask, the market didn't grow that much since 2012! $15m is a more reachable target, and that would be enough to be the highest-grossing movie ever!
