Top 100 Movie Characters 2015 COUNTDOWN BEGINS TOMORROW!! I WILL INCLUDE YOUR LIST IF YOU GET TO ME BEFORE I BEGIN (Within Reason)

Recommended Posts

Ok, I did this list before back in 2013 when I was pretty new to the forums, but since then we've had a whole bunch of new characters and new members which could alter opinion since then. And besides I enjoyed doing this list 2 years ago so it would be fun to be able to do it again now. :)

Rules are as follows:

When voting I want the focus to be on the performance as opposed to the character itself and as such when voting please add the actor and film in brackets both for ease of reference and also so that they can be differentiated from a different actor playing the same role. (Non-human and animated roles are also allowed)

If an actor has played the same role in multiple films, they can only be voted for once. However all votes for this character will be tallied up together so if one person votes for Jack Sparrow in Pirates 3 and another for Jack Sparrow in Pirates 4, these will be treated like the same vote. (This also means that one must try to consider every portrayal as a whole is an actor has played a role multiple times.)

You are welcome to pick multiple performances of the same role and multiple characters from one film. However I will impose a limit of no more than 5 characters from any one film series.

Performances based on real people are not eligible (e.g: Schindler, Lincoln, Pocahontas), Performances based on mythological people are acceptable (e.g: Robin Hood, Hercules).

Therefore a top 5 could for example look like below:

  • Danny Ocean – George Clooney, Ocean’s 11
  • Indiana Jones – River Phoenix, Indy and the last crusade
  • Lassie – Random dog/dogs, Lassie come home
  • Danny Ocean – Frank Sinatra, Ocean’s 11
  • Indiana Jones – Harrison Ford, Indy and the last crusade.

A voter may vote for any number of characters from a top 15 up to a top 100 and scoring will be done as follows:

1st: 30pts
2nd 25pts
3rd 22pts
4th 20pts
5th 18pts

6-7th 16pts
8-10th 14pts
11-15th 12pts
16-20th 10pts
21-25th 8pts

26-30th 6pts
31-40th 5pts
41-50th 4pts

51-60th 3pts
61-80th 2pts
81-100th 1pt

However, on top of this I will add bonus points for nomination frequency, This means that a film will score extra points for being in more lists and this will work as follows:

3 votes: 6pts
5 votes: 12pts
7 votes: 18pts

9 votes: 25pts
12 votes 32pts
15 votes 40pts

Votes will only be accepted if they are PMed to me but feel free to post below also. Any questions please feel free to ask.

Have fun

Hope to see some new lists for this and to clarify, there is no penalty/pressure on submitting a sub 100 name list. :) Edited by chasmmi

No non-human characters...

Andy Serkis as Caesar????

(Non-human and animated roles are also allowed)

That answer your question?

Also, if MoS Superman makes the list again, I am personally going to end you all.

I just can't...

? He is the only thing that makes ROTS the only decent SW movie. I like watching him turn dark. If you look closely, that is a main theme in my list. Characters with dark nuances are much more interesting than your bland, all good characters.

I like the overall arch of the character but Christensen is such an awful actor that the character doesn't work.

I love Christensen's acting. In fact, when I made the list, there were 17 characters and David Rice, his character in Jumper, was no. 16.
