  1. There are vids. Just search the site for Jennifer Lawrence and you will find them.
  2. I know MJ1 got an A- Cinemascore, but the crowd I saw it with last night could not have been more ambivalent about it walking out. Nobody talked about it or seemed the least bit excited for Part 2. Very different from the crowds leaving DH1 and BD1.
  3. Saw Birdman this past week and I agree with your assessment. The crowd could not get out of the theater fast enough when it was over. They seemed to be on board with it at the beginning, but it was just too much.
  4. Aside from being hokey/sappy/corny, Interstellar is just a really long movie that plays long. Gone Girl was about 140 minutes, iirc, but the time flew by and I would have liked it to go on a bit more. And what is the big deal with Jessica Chastain? She was OK, but I don't think she did anything any other actress couldn't (thought the Twilight girl was much better, believe it or not). It's a mystery why some actors become the hot property of the year.
  5. Why did Fincher seemingly hit a box-office home run with Gone Girl and struck out with Dragon Tattoo?
  6. Agreed. Was at the beach yesterday and asked a few friends if they were going to see Expendables and they said they had already downloaded it. Neither was thrilled with it but would have been at the theater if there had been no leak.
  7. I also didn't find anything amusing about GOTG. I knew from the trailers and the awful music cues that the film wouldn't be for me (but I see everything I can) and that same tone lasted for nearly 120 minutes. Could not stand Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana is as bland and wooden as ever. BTW, why are the villains in the Marvel universe so incredibly weak? There is never the feeling of any real danger or risk. Won't spoil but there was a scene in this that I hated almost as much as the out-of-place dancing in DH1. But I was pleasantly surprised by Vin Diesel and Batista. Not sure if Batista's odd line readings were intentional or not, but they worked. And the film looked great, too. One thing is for certain. The trailers were not misleading in the least. Wonder if anything Marvel is golden or if people like this kind of film specifically?
  8. Saw Lucy this afternoon (had a good crowd) and people were bewildered walking out of the theater. The audience was really with the movie for the first half or so and then the "huh?" and "what?" expressions began.
  9. Saw Purge yesterday and it got a really boisterous audience reaction. People were yelling, hooting and hollering and really getting into the movie. Thought the "on the streets" setting worked really well, Watch the spoilers rainbow......baumer
  10. "Bad jokes, explosions and more bad jokes" describes exactly the Guardians of the Galaxy TV spots and trailers.
  11. At my theater, employees see the same people going to see it over and over, haha. IMO, it's getting a ton of repeat business but the appeal is pretty narrow.
