Reading through here there were people expecting BB to open higher than 25M~ DOM? I thought the range months and months and months ago was 20M to 30M DOM. Seems like it came in on target. Supes Legacy is so far away that who knows? Will depend on release date, how the marketplace is doing, reviews, etc.

Weekend Thread (8/11-13) | Demeter 750K Previews
JohnnyGossamer replied to Eric Atreides's topic in Numbers and Data
Phantom Menace did insane admissions back in 1999 too. 464M DOM back then has got to be something like 750M~ DOM now. OT sold a lot of tickets for the first of the sequels and prequels. -
Not sure bashing him for Tenet or, years ago, something like Dark Knight Rises is all that hipster as, even though well received enough, those are his two worst received movies since Dark Knight. Every well liked director will receive this kind of backlash if they have a pristine record then a few perceived missteps. This isn't some novel concept. And, given the ratings of his films on Letterboxd which may well be called Hipsterboxd, he's in VERY VERY VERY excellent standing with hipsters. Always has been.

So... Are the numbers expected to remain about the same with Meg edging out Oppenheimer and Oppenheimer edging out Turtles? I did my Mutant Megham double feature. Good time. Each was exactly as advertised. Mutant Mayhem should have some nice legs through August and eventually clear 100M DOM. Nice to see Elemental to still chugging along to get to the 5x multiplier. Looks like it's starting to hold pretty well in Japan so wondering if 500M WW is still a possibility for it with decent legs there?

Disney probably thought they couldn't miss with Three Musketeers in '93.

So TGM with a considerably lower OW DOM is looking pretty safe. Nice.

At my AMC Barbie never really had much PLF presence to begin with but TMNT has 4 Dolby screenings today and Oppenheimer has all the other Dolby and/or IMAX screenings. I forgot TMNT actually opens today at 2PM and not tomorrow. So, potentially, if there's any crossover at all which I don't think there is, it could start impacting Barbie and Oppenheimer this afternoon.

Where do people see Barbie after this coming weekend? 460M DOM total? Can it hold well enough for a 60M+ weekend DOM?
-
Both are just too consistently impressive maybe? What are your thoughts on what Mutant Mayhem and Meg will do this week/weekend?

Guess I just still have PTSD to some of the more notorious fake number threads over the past decade. Haha.

Yup. Delete this thread. EDIT - Charlie swooped in with actual numbers. Disregard. Ha!

I thought both were fine but didn't love either. That said, I do love the life they each injected into the box office. I did like that each felt very true to the filmmaker in each case. It happens. I didn't really love Avatar 2 either. And, while I liked Top Gun 2, I much prefer the Mission films 4 through 7 over it. But, I was very happy others loved those as well to make them each box office juggernauts too.

Fart Opera would've been fun and fine. It's not like Blazing Saddles doesn't have widespread farting and it was an admissions monster at the box office. It's not like Despicable Me and Minions movies don't have farting featured in each one somewhat prevalently. A shame she didn't keep it in the final cuts. Wonder what other fun stuff she decided to cut?

Joker's iconic because pretty much every Joker other than Leto is iconic on the big and small screen. Cesar Romero is iconic in the '60s Batman TV series. Nicholson is iconic in Batman '89. Mark Hamill voicing the Joker in Batman The Animated Series is iconic. Ledger is iconic. Leto was a wet fart that everyone already forgot. Phoenix was iconic. BTAS Joker is arguably the best one.
