  1. "NO GOOD DEED" grossed an estimated $10.2 million this weekend, which is a 58% drop. It's made $40.1 million within 10 days of release, and it had only a $13.2 million budget. A 58% drop for this type of film is not horrible.
  2. I don't think most people were interested in "Get On Up".
  3. No, Will Packer is a film producer. "About Last Night" also is his production, and it opened at #2 in February 2014. Will Packer's last 8 films have opened with over $20 million at the box office.
  4. Deadline http://deadline.com/2014/09/box-office-guardians-soars-over-300m-no-good-deed-solid-no-1-dolphin-tale-swims-to-no-2-833891/
  5. Henson is the lead in a new FOX TV series and the lead in the #1 film in the USA this weekend. She executive produced "No Good Deed", and the film should be profitable. She also co-starred in the #1 film opening weekend in June - "Think Like A Man" after coming off a series regular role on a hit TV series on CBS from 2011 - 2013. Three #1 opening films, an Emmy nomination, series regular roles in two major TV series over a three year period? Her career is better than 99.9% of actors and actresses. She may not be A-list, but her career is stable and steady in studio films and major TV networks.
  6. Thank you, spatulashack. What are your Friday projections for "No Good Deed"? Is it playing better in the evening than matinees?
  7. Could "Dolphin Tale 2" still win the weekend? I think the screenings will be packed on Saturday and Sunday.
  8. Taraji P. Henson has a huge black fan base. She's been promoting the film a lot, especially on her social media accounts that have millions of followers. In the USA, I think she has a stronger black fan base than Idris actually. I think it's a combination of them. People were interested in seeing Henson in a thriller and Idris as a bad guy.
  9. I agree with the first part. I have not seen the film yet, but I thought that the trailer and TV spots were fairly uninspired and weak. The trailer and TV spots for the first film appealed more to women, imo, and the first film's audience was 63% women. I think older women may have been turned off by the sequel's trailer, which was much less romance and more Vegas hijinks.
  10. Baumer, based on your knowledge of boxoffice.com, how much do you think TLAMT will decrease today? Or will it remain flat? Like I wrote above, I hope that it can open at #1, but I think that it will fall harshly today and tomorrow.
  11. Yeah, I am expecting 22JS to win this weekend at the box office. TLAMT probably will drop today to #2 and #2 at the box office overall this weekend.
  12. Based on Nikki's projection that EOT will be #2 with $35 million, does that mean that MALEFICIENT will drop 50%+ percent this weekend?
