  1. Friendly neighborhood reminder that the Most Anticipated Films thread has restarted: https://forums.boxofficetheory.com/topic/667-box-office-theorys-most-anticipated-films/page/398/#comments We definitely need more votes this week. Just post your top 10 films of the next 12 months.
  2. I had actually avoided that trailer for the last few months, so when I saw it in front of New Mutants a few days ago, it was 100% new to me. It played really well on the big screen.

  5. It wouldn't surprise me if the voices were already recorded for this. A lot of voice acting has a very long lead time these days.
  6. After years and years of anticipation, tomorrow is your final chance to vote for New Mutants in the Most Anticipated Movies thread: https://forums.boxofficetheory.com/topic/667-box-office-theorys-most-anticipated-films/page/398/#comments
  7. They did before, so they do now. I guess the rules haven't changed.
  8. The film may not be great, but this is pretty clearly some entitled reviewer demanding a free movie.
  9. If Unhinged can make 4M, then Tenet ought to easily get past 20M in two weeks. Especially if they try to make Friday a 5-day single-day number. (Meaning the showings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday all magically count as part of Friday too.) Hell, there's a chance it'll be at 20 million BEFORE Thursday night previews even start.
  10. So what numbers can we get our hopes up for today? Will we get a Saturday number for Unhinged, and that's it? Or might we get numbers for other movies too?
  11. 1. New Mutants 2. Black Widow 3. Eternals 4. Dune 5, Morbius 6. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 7. Venom: Let There Be Carnage 8. The King's Man 9. Candyman 10. Snake Eyes
  12. Okay, let's try this. Give me your top 10 movies coming out in the next 365 days. Currently eligible movies include: New Mutants, Dune, Mortal Kombat, F9: The Fast Saga, Space Jam: The New Legacy, The Suicide Squad, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard NO: Avatar 2, Unhinged, Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Avatar 2, Avatar 3, Avatar 4, Avatar 5, The Batman, Halloween Kills, Avatar 2 Go!
  13. Just to clarify: seats sold or seats newly unavailable?

  15. Obviously, comparing New Mutants to any older numbers will be useless. However, having NM numbers, so you can compare future releases to NM, should be useful.
  16. My local Cinemark is opening this weekend. Looks like I know what I'll be using those saved-up Movieclub tickets on!
  17. Goonies has been putting up good numbers week after week. Seems like great drive-in double feature material. Dirty Dancing makes an appearance. Pretty much business as usual. https://deadline.com/2020/08/dave-franco-the-rental-no-1-weekend-box-office-again-1203001768/ 1..The Rental (IFC) 242 theaters (-8), 3-day: $290,3K (-28%)/lifetime cume: $890,4K/Wk 2 2…The Goonies (WB) $208K (+18%), 156 theaters (+30), lifetime cume: $67.6M/Wk 1,835 3…Jurassic Park (Uni) 261 (+18) theaters, 3-day: $192K (+11%),lifetime cume: $409.4M /Wk 1,417 4…Jaws (Uni) 195 theaters (+19), 3-day: $142K (+33%)/lifetime cume: $266.3M/Wk 2,355 5…Grease (Par) 83 theaters (+15), 3-day: $138K (+41%)/cume: $192.2MM/Wk 2,199 6….Back to the Future (Uni) 126 theaters (+13), 3-day: $137K (+19%), lifetime cume: $215.3M/Wk. 1,831 7…Jungle Book (Dis), 148 theaters, 3-day: $127K (-), lifetime cume: $364.2M/Wk 225 8….Dirty Dancing (LG) 67 (+32) theaters, 3-day: $113K (+95%), lifetime cume: $65.99M/Wk 1,198 9…Gremlins (WB), 58 theaters (-1) 3-day: $109,3K (-8%), lifetime cume: $155M/Wk 1,887 10…The Karate Kid (Sony) 202 theaters (-165), 3-day: $109K (-52%), lifetime cume: $91.7M/Wk. 1,885
  18. That might be a part of it. However, it might also be the case that some folks were happy to go see some old classics for a week or three, and are now losing their interest in watching old movies in theaters.
  19. deadline has the weekend chart finalized https://deadline.com/2020/07/dave-franco-horror-movie-the-rental-occupying-no-1-spot-at-weekend-box-office-1202994990/ 1..The Rental (IFC) 250 theaters, 3-day: $403,9K/lifetime cume: $403,9K/Wk 1 2…The Karate Kid (Sony) 367 theaters, 3-day: $225K, lifetime cume: $91.2M/wk. 1,884 3…The Goonies (WB) $176K (-13%), 126 theaters (-12), lifetime cume: $67.1M/wk 1,834 4…Jurassic Park(Uni) 243 (-3) theaters, 3-day: $173K (-8%),lifetime cume: $407.1M /wk no. 1,416 5…The Big Ugly (Vert) 68 theaters, 3-day: $150K/wk no. 1 6…Zootopia (Dis) 137 theaters, 3-day: $124K (-)/cume: $341.6M/Wk 230* 7…Avengers (Dis), 203 theaters, 3-day: $121K, lifetime cume: $623.6M/wk no. 430* 8….Greatest Showman (20th/Dis) 175 theaters, 3-day: $120K, lifetime cume: $174.5M/wk 136* 9…Gremlins (WB), 59 theaters (-5) 3-day: $119K (-22%), lifetime cume: $154.8M/wk no. 1,886 10….Back to the Future (Uni) 113 theaters (+5), 3-day: $115K (+14%), lifetime cume: $215M/wk. no. 1,830
