The Dark Knight Rises Saturday, 6:45 PM in Lie-MAX Theater was 90% full, sold out Trailers (no reaction to any) Skyfall Resident Evil: Retribution Oz: The Great and Powerful The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Man of Steel The film itself was just plain incredible. Fantastic screenplay, great action scenes, a killer score by Hans Zimmer, a pretty intense third act and wonderful performances from everyone. There were a few minor flaws, but that's all I'll say. It certainly delivered. Everyone in the audience applauded at the end, and on one of the final shots in the film (you probably know which), a lot of people yelled "YEAH!" A-

The Amazing Spider-Man 7:15pm, Lie-MAX 3D, Theater was 90% full Trailers: The Dark Knight Rises - Some chatter Skyfall - Some chatter Frankenweenie - Not much of a reaction, we got the trailer from March, not the recent one The Hobbit - Some chatter Resident Evil: Retribution - No reaction This film was very, very enjoyable. Great performances, some well-done action (loved the POV shots), surprisingly decent use of 3D and overall, it was very entertaining. At 136 minutes, it went by very fast. The audience really loved it, they applauded at the end. Many stayed for the post-credits scene as well. B+

It was a nice, charming short film. Pretty animation and art direction, too.

I think some of us saw 415M domestic as a disappointment for TS3 because we wanted it to top that green ogre. Shrek 2's performance back in '04 was essentially the stars all lining up. I don't think another animated film could make that amount, though TS3 coming close is nothing short of impressive.Anyways, good for Brave. Is a 4x multiplier possible?

It's some movie by the creator of the Telletubbies or something. The creator keeps touting it as revolutionary interactive entertainment or something. *loses 50 brain cells explaining that*

Brave Saturday 7:00 PM in 2D Theater was 85% full, mostly adults Trailers The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure - No comment Despicable Me 2 - Got laughs at the end Ice Age: Continental Drift - Laughs on the funny bits Hotel Transylvania - Some laughs The Hobbit - Some chatter Wreck-It Ralph - Some laughs, jokes went over most of the audience Finding Nemo 3D - some chatter Monsters University - Lots of laughs and chatter Short Film: La Luna, got some chatter at the end. I liked it, it was a very well-animated short that was charming. The Film: You know I may be biased, but I really loved this film. To me, it was very different. The story is good enough, I think it's the characters and the whole mother-daughter relationship that shine. There were a few things in the film's second act that caught me off guard at first, but it wasn't enough to really stain the movie in any way. That said, I loved it. The crowd loved it too, laughed throughout. Some stayed for the post-credits scene too. A+

I think Shrek 2 was the first. As for Shark Tale, I wonder how that would've done if it was released in the last few years and not during the whole computer animated movie boom in 2004.

Cars = Great. Cars 2 = Just alright.

Kung Fu Panda 3 is in development.

The Amazing Spider-Man - no reaction Frankenweenie - No reaction The film itself? Great the second time around, if not better. The post-conversion 3D actually wasn't too bad either. The audience loved it, they laughed throughout and applauded during the best parts and at the end. A-

New prediction: 78/305. The marketing for this is aggressive.

The Avengers Friday, May 4th, 8:00 PM, 3D. Theater was 85-90% full. Trailers Battleship End of Watch The Dark Knight Rises Frankenweenie Brave - some laughs during the scene where King Fergus impersonates Merida Prometheus The Amazing Spider-Man The Film What can I say? It lived up to the hype. Joss Whedon works wonders with the story, and the film actually has a good amount of character development. It functions well as a stand-alone film, which is good. The humor works well, especially in moments where it could be out of place. That's how good the screenplay is. The action? Excellent. The acting? Great. Everything else? Just plain awesome. A+ The crowd loved this film. There were tons of laughs throughout, and they applauded on several scenes. This is going to have strong word of mouth.

The Pirates! Band of Misfits Sunday, April 29th at 2:30 PM in 2D Theater was 10% full Trailers Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days To The Arctic (unnecessary, since it already came out) Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted Despicable Me 2 (the only trailer that got a reaction, the kids all laughed at the end) ParaNorman Hotel Transylvania The Film The Pirates! Band of Misfits isn't among Aardman's better films, but it's still a lot of fun. Excellent animation (the sets took over a year to build and perfect!) and a good story made it work, along with the over-the-top tone of the whole thing. The only real problem I had with it was that it was edited for American audiences. The more crude humor from the original British version (The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!) was removed, and a few voices were re-dubbed. They didn't completely ruin everything though. A nice fun ride with some spectacular animation. B+

John Carter Saturday, 7:30 PM in Lie-MAX 3D. Theater was 85% full. Trailers (no reaction to any) - The Hunger Games - Titanic 3D - Men in Black 3 - Wrath of the Titans - Prometheus - Frankenweenie - The Avengers John Carter was a disappointment, but it was still enjoyable. It had great visuals, some really cool action scenes and a pretty good first act. Unfortunately, the story is a gigantic mess and the screenplay isn't anything special. I admire Andrew Stanton's work, but this film just didn't tick. The story was just all over the place, IMO. The film could've been so much better. C+ The audience laughed at most of the scenes that were supposed to be funny, otherwise there wasn't much reaction.
