  1. Frankly speaking, I feel the movie is a pretty pointless sequel to a film which I didn't particularly like in the first place. The beginning of the film showed some promise though, with the stormy night and all. But then, the storyline takes a turn for the tedious. However, Johnny Depp as well as the Red Queen did play their part well. If it were not for them, the film would have been a thorough damp squib.
  2. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: Was riveted to my seat the entire three hours of the movie. To Kill A Mockingbird: Atticus Finch. Period. The Graduate: Truly a landmark motion picture. Breakfast at Tiffany's: An unusual, glamorous, sophisticated and yet bizarre love story. Lolita: A scandalous yet so well-made story out of a novel. 101 Dalmatians: Needs no introduction.
  3. 1. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - Two warriors are in pursuit of a sword that has been stolen and them along with a notorious fugitive encounter an adolescent nobleman's daughter who herself is at crossroads in her life. 2. Requiem for a Dream - A film about four people on Coney Island who are addicted to drugs and can't cope with it when their addictions become stronger. 3. O Brother, Where art thou? - The movie is set in the 1930s, when three convicts who have escaped from prison search for hidden treasure and try to escape the prying and watchful eyes of a lawman pursuing them.
  4. 1. Cast Away (2000) - An awesome performance by Tom Hanks. 2. A Beautiful Mind (2001) - Russell Crowe stands out. 3. Amelie (2001) - Not the most obvious choice for a majority of the people, but I quite liked it. 4. Mystic River (2003) - The first movie I've watched directed by Clint Eastwood. 5. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) - This one needs no introduction. 6. Little Miss Sunshine (2006) -This one came as a welcome surprise and made for an enjoyable watch. 7. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) - Brad Pitt and Ctae Blanchett put in power-packed performances. 8. The Social Network (2010) - The story of Mark Zuckerberg 9. The King's Speech (2010) - Well and truly deserved all the oscars that it won 10. Shutter Island (2010) - Scary but made the cut
  5. My review: Not good for adults. My son's review: He loved it. I read the review of the movie online somewhere and it rightfully proclaimed that one shouldn't venture out and go and watch it unless he/she is less than ten years old. Agreed. Even the 3D effects were't that captivating. i would give it a maximum of 2 stars out of 5. Sorry, folks!
  6. Personally speaking, I liked 'Once' better. It's a beautiful love story between a flower girl and a musician in the streets. And they say it's a low-budget movie, but a musical like this can be watched again and again. A must-watch!
  7. There are lots, but to name my most favorite ones: 1. The Shawshank Redemption 2. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest 3. Psycho 4. West Side Story 5. Chinatown 6. It's A Wonderful Life 7. Amadeus 8. From Here To Eternity 9. Extraterrestrial 10. To Kill A Mockingbird
  8. The best animated feature of this year has to be How To Train Your Dragon 2 - one of the best 3D animation movies I have seen till date, and I have seen quite a few. The dragon racing sequences as well as all the characters seem so very real. So is the storyline. Your heart reaches out to Hiccup and even Toothless when Stoick The Vast dies. And the variety of dragons is oh-so-many, all shapes and sizes, all colors, ferocious and friendly, endless... Had been looking forward to Peabody and Sherman also in the first half of the year but it turned out to be a damp squib.
  9. According to me, it was Cedric Diggory's demise (including Harry's parents and Cedric talking to Harry). Somehow that touched me even more than Albus Dumbledore's death.
  10. The best book: Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire The best movie: Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban
  11. A spoiler totally ruined this series for me. And I had been following it religiously right from the beginning
