  1. It's a very poor drop, no excuses there. However it is already the sixth highest grossing film domestically this year and with a bunch of franchises dying this summer, it's not too bad for Spidey really. It also improved on ASM2 already, so it's not doom and gloom. Maybe the franchise just has to build goodwill again. Regardless of quality, the Spider-Man franchise can be compared to a franchise like Twilight. A frontloaded franchise that has a fanbase that always turns up opening weekend and then when it's left for the general audience to give it some legs, they don't as they just don't care and the hunger isn't there anymore. I never had huge expectations for this film though. I know they pushed Iron Man's involvement and all that but I don't think that will change an audience mind much. Iron Man has been in like 7 films now, audiences will not be that excited to see him again. I think a sequel could improve though on the goodwill this seems to be creating again but we'll see.
  2. I don't think Marvel Studios will announce the films they have scheduled with no titles, I think they will wait until we get closer to Avengers 4. Thor trailer is guaranteed, they will show more from Black Panther and Infinity in Hall H. I have a feeling though they will reveal unannounced cast members from the next two Avengers films, Ant Man & Wasp and even Captain Marvel. It starts filming in January and some characters that might appear in Cap Marvel will probably appear in Avengers 4, so have a feeling they will announce a few. Also with Joss Whedon now close with DC, I expect some Batgirl announcements as well. DC will 100% announce Wonder Woman 2, how can they not! The biggest film of the summer, it will just create so much buzz for it again! Also I think we might get some directors announcement and release dates for Gotham City Sirens and Flash.
  3. Scott Mendelson said in his Spider-Man article that it has grossed 468m WW to date. 260m internationally. Sorry I couldn't share the article I'm away from home on my phone.
  4. Maybe the response to Dawn and Rise was not as positive as previously thought. I don't think a high rotten tomato score would help bring people back if they were not a fan of the previous two or bring new people in as it is being marketed as 'the end', people might want to watch the first two before watching it. It could have great legs though, we don't know. Also I dont think a great rotten tomato would help Spidey that much either. People might just be sick of Spider-Man, it is his 3rd reboot in fifteen years. However it still is doing pretty well. Good rotten tomato scores work for films like Baby Driver, Get Out and Wonder Woman.
  5. It looks like it will pass Amazing Spider-Man 2 this weekend domestically already if it keeps going at this rate. I guess that's what Sony wanted from the deal. After the mess of that film, it's good to see it will increase quiet well. It can only mean good things for the Spidey brand.
  6. 250+ worldwide weekend without China and some other major markets (Japan, Germany, Spain...) is pretty impressive! WOW! I bet Sony is over the moon with this Marvel deal now!
  7. His 3rd reboot in 15 years and Spidey just had a near 50m opening day! Crazy, just so good! Wonder Woman is impressive but why are all the comments just praising Wondy and trashing Spidey? Wonder Woman is doing incredible but no need for 50 comments all sayiny the same thing over and again.
  8. I did not like Spider-Man 3 but thought the character of Sandman and his effects were really cool! If Marvel do decide to use a villian from previous films again I hope it's Sandman, he is just such a cool character.
  9. Bet Sony is happy with the success of Homecoming and Baby Driver. Next up we have the Emoji Movie from them, so we'll see how that goes...
  10. They have to give some sort of range. I bet they are thinking between 10-12, that would be my guess.
  11. I just wanted to say this trailer played in front of Spider-Man and honestly it just looks so visually refreshing. I will definitely check it out. I would say the trailer for this got a better reaction in my theatre then Thor and Justice League trailers, however that may not mean a lot. I would love to see it do well.
  12. I don't think Gotham City Sirens will release next year, isn't Margot Robbie pregnant?
  13. I don't think Spidey will break out big but I think WOM could help it do really well. However it might break out, I don't know. As long as it improves on the ASM2 domestic total of $202 million, I think Sony will be pretty happy. It should pretty well worldwide.
