  1. Since my first stan, MI7, is pretty much dead at this point, I just want HP8 to retain the title of biggest WB opening. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK??
  2. Somewhere Tom Cruise is throwing a tantrum, watching all this life threatening action amount to disappointment, in the best case scenario. Seriously, who picked that opening date? MI7 should have opened in 2 weeks..
  3. If DR1 disappoints, and people seem to think it will, what with the general air of “everything flops until Barbenheimer opens”, the lack of PLF screens to go around, the AWFUL timing to open this movie, the seeming consensus that the MI franchise peaked with Fallout etc, then the series should end with DR2. If the goodwill from Fallout and TGM, the stellar reviews and the high audience score could not help it, then nothing will. The MI series has a ceiling and it has been reached. Maybe this will remind Tom that he used to be an actor and a serious one at that. This stunt guy routine does not do him justice and there are only so many times that he can sell a movie based on the practical/look at me I’m doing it myself shtick. …or, you know, bring back Cavill in DR2 and let him reload his arms. With his shirt off.
  4. Is it true that right wing groups buy tickets to inflate grosses, therefore the interest in this is actually artificial? Grace Randolph said so.
  5. I think the movie will blow up with the good will from Fallout and TGM, there’s no stopping it. I really don’t understand how Barbie would undercut it. Why on God’s good Earth would someone prefer Barbie over MI7?
  6. I’m confused when they say that GP was about replacing him with Renner. The movie ends with Hunt as the team leader and Brandt as a team member. There is no handing off of the reins and Brandt’s character did not scream “protagonist”!at this movie, either.
  7. I saw it twice already and sorry, but I liked it. I trust Ford with where he went with the character. Whoever thought that he would be as agile and action ready as he was during the original trilogy should have never went to see the movie in the first place. It was clear that this was his swan song as Indy, and Indy's swan song too. Harrison Ford did a great job, his acting scenes, you know which I'm talking about, were amazing. You could feel raw emotion. I was not expecting him to jump around like he did at the earlier films and it wouldn't have looked believable if he did. Again sorry, but I liked FWB in this. She was maybe a little too hard on Indy at the begining, but she had a character arc and their last exchange during that battle was moving and poignant. Plus, she is totally believable in this kind of role and that makes me happy about her writing Lara Croft. The weakest part was the pacing and the duration, but I didn't mind much as I was spending time with my most favorite movie hero ever... Lastly, the amount of hate is startling and it does not come from the film itself. It's a weird combination of anti-Disney, anti-feminism, anti- Kathleen Kennedy (some videos on YouTube almost incite violence against her) from disappointed man babies who lashed out, maybe carrying over their frustration over the Star Wars sequel situation. It's impossible for me to comprehend how they can be so hateful, so I think we should approach it from a political/sociological perspective. The movie will flop/lose a lot of money and I'm ok with it because I don't want to see anyone else as Indiana Jones.
  8. Harrison Ford certainly didn’t think so and he might be more invested in the character than you are. What, did you also think Waller Bridge was shoved down your throat, like you seem to believe for Atwell in MI7 without probably having seen either movie?
  9. There are precious few reviews that count Waller Bridge as a reason not to see the movie. I would say more than 80% of them praise her.
  10. https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Culture/review-harrison-ford-working-deep-true-sees-indy/story?id=100484137 Travers said it best: Respect
  11. It's crazy to think that Indy 5 was at one time considered to top the summer box office. I don't know what the hell happened, but it seems people liked... Super Mario more than spending some time with a cinematic legend... There's irrational hate here, it's not only that they will not see it, they want it to actually bomb. It makes no sense to me, not coming from people who follow other (and much more cookie cutter) franchises anyway. And the argument about cynical cash grab and whatnot? Pleeeease, this is not a Yorgos Lanthimos movie, it's blockbuster film making...
  12. It’s so obvious at this point: the hate for the movie does not come from the actual film specifics. It’s a mix between misogyny towards PWB who made the cardinal sin of being Fleabag (go see it) and the accumulated hate towards LF and Disney for “ruining childhoods”. I unfortunately encountered some videos on YouTube that were frankly embarrassing to watch: 50yo manbabies/anti feminists stopping short of inciting violence against PWB. Do these people think that Harrison Ford would take part in a movie where his most beloved character would be sidelined like that?
  13. I m reading RT reviews, they are the very definition of lukewarm, tepid and faint praise. People have become so nitpicky and hard to please. They are calling the third act outlandish and stretching believability. Really, in a movie series which showed us ghouls and the wrath of God coming out of a golden box and a 500 old knight guarding the cup of Christ?
  14. It’s a strange year when things are bent a certain way: everything that’s not Barbie or Oppenheimer are under-hyped and will be considered underwhelming except if they do Top Gun Maverick level breakout business. It’s a bandwagon many are ready to jump on.
  15. It is the Cannes debacle that looks really weird. How did an experienced company like Disney or Lucasfilm miscalculate things like this?
  16. Wait…what? Do you still believe those fake accounts that had PWB’s character replacing Indy or are you consciously perpetuating that lie? Why is Dial of Destiny “Crystal Skull 2”?
  17. Yes, why does it seem like so many people seem inclined to say DR will fail? Is it a self-fulfilling prophecy? That stands for Indy too.
  18. Ansel Elgort is practically a nobody, Armie Hammer is destroyed and ditto for even heavier (also: unproven) cases like Woody Allen. Ben Affleck's case is different. The fact that there are more white guys in the news regarding those allegations is related to the unfortunate fact that there are more white than black men in that business anyway. I don't think that in the Me Too era any abuser is safe, no matter his colour or race. Specifically about Majors, his background and, sorry to say, his general demeanour, deem such allegations believable, but of course, innocent until proven guilty etc. Meteoric rises are often followed by meteoric falls from grace.
  19. Well, if you read the previous posts, no it wasn't. And being violent is not always a conscious choice, especially with people who have criminal tendencies.
