  1. You're way off the mark on that. The matket has drastically changed. Midnights are MUCH bigger now in exactly the same way that opening weekends are much bigger than they were back in the day. Midnight showings are now big business and part of the marketing plan in a much more profound way than it was in 2003.
  2. For a mega franchise with what was said to be a massive fanbase, I don't see how $13m can be seen as anything but disappointing. I mean, even Sith 7 1/2 years ago did 17m. The review results are as I expected, down to 65% and a bad rating. This is Ang Lee Hulk ugly. But the Hobbit should be critic proof, and the bad reviews were held back for as long as possibble, so what are the reasons for the weaker midnights? I'm open to any ideas for this discussipn, because the only thing that makes any sense is that time has not been kind to LOTR and many lost interest in this world. Also, perhaps repeat viewings over the past decade exposed the flaws and excesses in the LOTR trilogy, and people don't view more of that as MUST SEE and are content to just wait until it comes out on video so they can have the remote in hand ready to skip through the boring parts.Thoughts?
  3. Lol No.The original Star Wars will always be the trilogy king. It's a good one, though. Sits comfortably next to other strong ones like Back to the Future and Nolan's Batman.
  4. Wow, you don't really have a grasp on what Bond is at all, huh?Bond is a character that all boys want to be and all girls want. It really dprsn't get anu better.
  5. Wow.... It happened in a MOVIE THEATER!!!! Are you really so obtuse to believe people wouldn't stay away from the entire complex to avoid being anywhere near? THINK! Those drops will tell the story.
  6. There is definitely denial coming from you. When the numbers come in for the other movies, and thete aren't significant drops, how will you spin it, then? Heath Ledgers death inflated the interest in the last movie, as did the Joker. Bkb and I tried to tell everyone. It is your own fault if you went all out looney and had no objectivity because they couldn't handle how bad Avengers destroyed the Batman franchise.

  8. Copycat killings would be the only thing that would hurt the box office for TDKR.
  9. Really, the oversensitivity on your part isn't helping.
  10. TDKR was never going to set any records, but this terrible tragedy will pull in more people than it will push away due to morbid curiousity, much like Ledger's death did. It' s big news publicity that even money and WOM can't buy. What a horrible thing to happen. I hope there doesn't turn out to be any crazy connections to Bane.
  11. I never said $280m was any such thing. $250 is acceptable when the sequel is expected to go up.
  12. Movie was pretty goqd, despite excluding Jonah. I like that they got rid of the organic webs! Nice start, with a sequel introducing Mary Jane, Norman, Harry, and Jonah and the Bugle staff. with the Green Goblin and Gwen Stacey death stories as the focus. The sequel will make a fortune in line with the first 2. Andrew Garfield isn't quite as good as Maguire, but he does just fine. Spider-Man's future is okay.
