  1. Jawdropping numbers. Figures at thread title are minimums. Stephen Chow’s comedy The Mermaid dominated Asian box office charts again this weekend taking in $58.6 million included $55.8 million in China. The Mermaid has grossed $419.4 million in just two weeks of release in China and is now the highest grossing movie of all-time there. Other top territories for the wacky eco-friendly rom-com are Malaysia ($5.8M), Vietnam ($3.3M), and Singapore ($2.3M). In the US, it opened with an estimated $1.02M this weekend from 35 locations
  2. Both The Martian and Spectre are expected to be released around November. The Martian likely to come a little earlier but the two could be released as close to each other as about two weeks. The MI5 VS Minions showdown turned out not close at all. (Poor Minions; and Bad Minions) What about The Martian VS Spectre ?
  3. 4 major Hollywood releases are set to release in China in Aug + Sept. This club is a prediction that these 4 releases will make over 450 million USD in China. My predictions are: MI5 - 250 million USD Minions - 65-75 million USD Pixels 35-40 million USD Terminator: 100 million USD Who's in and who's out? What's your predictions for these 4 films in China?
