Great action disaster film.

Its over the top but a ton of fun and I like how the film builds up with each Tornado, F1 to F2 to F3 to F4 to F5.

Each Tornado is like a character with a different tone and setting and really makes the film a wild blast.

A good 90's film and started the whole Tornado chasing craze.

Just saw it again today. Love this film. I'm a disaster porn enthusiast and this is very well made. Plus its one of the films I grew up with so obviously it holds a little special place in my heart.

This is a classic movie as far as I am concerned.  I really wasn't that interested in the premise (tornadoes, storm chasers, etc) before the movie came out but after seeing it I loved it.  I think the acting was outstanding and I fell in love with Helen Hunt in this film.  Its the chemistry of the leads that pushes the movie higher as well as the incredible special effects (for the time).  The humanization of the people effected is the biggest difference between this and many disaster flicks.  Right from the beginning it shows the pain and loss that tornadoes cause.  Another classic role for Bill Paxton who is a very underrated actor in my opinion.  A+

One of the dumbest movies with no logic ever made with Spielberg's name on it.. So hokey right down to Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton strapping themselves to some piping at this barn with leather straps and watch the inside of a 500MPH tornado with their legs dangling up in the air as they watch it pass over them like it was no big deal when in reality, Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton would've been splattered everywhere with there legs torn off from the vacuum and tossed a mile away.. It was more about FX then logic.. Hell, even the folks at the Weather Channel probably laughed at this shit...

0 Fucks out of 10..

And how would that have played out if Paxton and Hunt got their legs ripped off at the end?

Fun when the twisters are happening but so much of the plot and character stuff is really lame.

The only lame stuff is the bad guys who drive black trucks.  The corporate sell outs lol.

The rest of it imo is pretty awesome.  Any film with PSH in it hamming it up has got to be pretty good.

PSH and Bill Paxton's team in general is a lot of fun. The "bad scientists" are lame, and so is the Jami Gertz subplot. All that manufactured drama felt so forced. It's a film where you're chasing giant tornadoes, how much more drama do you need?
