WEEKEND REPORT ULTRACINE

 

Interest in seeing the new adventure of Gru and company remain intact on the second weekend of the winter holidays. Meanwhile, the fifth part of the saga " Transformers " debuted in second place. On the other hand, "Mom went on a trip" improved her performance and moved up to third place.

A total of  1,303,174 people went to theaters across the country from Thursday to Sunday.

" Mi villano favorito 3" attracted  387,963 spectators on 370 screens. Its accumulated already amounts to  3,093,521 tickets .

Not many movies have managed to sell more than 3,000,000 tickets in the last decade. "The Minions" and "Fast and Furious 7" achieved in 2015. "Wild Stories" in 2014; And " Monsters University " in 2013. "Ice Age 4" in 2012; And "Toy Story 3" in 2010. "My favorite villain 3" has just joined this select group and has remainder to continue adding.

" Transformers: The Last Knight " was second with 295,056 tickets in its first weekend. It is displayed on 356 screens. It is a good figure for a fifth delivery but will depend on word of mouth to reach the figures of its predecessors. Both the third and the fourth part exceeded the million spectators.

" Mom went on a trip " continues to surprise by improving her performance by 11%. From Thursday to Sunday cut  221,860 tickets on 241 screens. Its accumulated amount to  866,426 spectators .

For its part, " Cars 3 " fell to fourth place after losing 30% of sales in relation to its premiere. It sold  221,679 locations for a cumulative of  811,097 in eleven days.

It closes the top five " Spider-Man: Back home " , which added  115,866 tickets for a total of  917,022 since its release.

"Mamá se fue de viaje" became de 8th movie of the year to top the 1m milestone, it's playing impresive strong, and it will remain enjoying good legs for the next couple of weeks before "El Fútbol o Yo" and"La Cordillera" opens in mid august. Cars 3 and SMHC will top the milestone today.

 

Today Dunkirk will open in 175 Screens (1 IMAX) and Baby Driver yet to confirm screens.-

Today 2 new wide releases arrive so it seems that this weekend will be strong:

Emoji opens 255 Screens (5 4D Screens) looking to catch the family after the winter holidays.

And the local movie "El Fútbol o Yo" (Soccer or Me) in 304 Screens, a romantic comedy staring Adrian Suar a major star in this genre ("Me case con un Boludo" 1.980.000 -- "Un Novio para mi Mujer" 1.408.000)

Local movies ruled the box office. "La Cordillera" started leading the box office (a bit disappointing IMO, I was expecting something over 300k), on second place was "El Fútbol o yo" with a nice hold heading to the 1M admissions milestone.

On 3rd place with a fantastic hold (Sunday was Kid's Day) was Emoji the Movie.

Captain Underpants as expected underperforms, but day on day increases were fine so maybe it can develop decent legs at least.
