Last weekend The lego movie opened first with $800k which was marvelous!

Very good drops for both Divergent and CAP 2.Rio 2 opened with $308k just ahead of the first one  :)

Top 10:

1 The lego movie  $803k

2 The other woman $425k

3 Divergent $363k -26,6% $1m total

4 CAP $332k -28,6% $2.1m total

5 The Grand Budapest Hotel $331k -2,1% $824k total

6 Rio 2 $308k 

7 Noah $118k -33,8% drop  $1,6m total

8 Muppets 2 $75k -34.5% $223k total

9 2 States $58k

10 Mr.Peabody + Sherman $51k -55,3%  $779k total

 

This weekend comes The Amazing Spiderman 2!

The first one opened with a good $1.1m before 2 years ago and did $2.5m but wasn't even in the top 10 <_<

Yeah actually I am little surprised this thread didn't exist.  I guess the NZ contingent didn't migrate over to these forums after BOM died (I remember there was a thead on BOM back in the day that got updated regularly.)

New Zealand is a small country with 4 million inhabitants, I'm not surprised not to see people from there here.

 

We would need an all-time top, even though I'm pretty sure the leader is a LOTR movie :P

Anyone an idee why they don't have rereleased LOTR yet? I mean they could do like with all other movies. And maby they could show the extended edtion in the cinema. :(

No the leader is actually Avatar with $12.5m  ;)

The first hobbit made $9.2m and was higher than all LOTR films

Great thread!

 

I remember a few years ago we worked it out that to figure out the US equivalent in NZ gross, you multiply it by 60.  So The Other Woman opened to 425K, so that would be like 25 mill in the US for its opening weekend.

I just calculated it also and I came to 70 multiply, but I also counted Canada with it.

Oki, so now it's 70.  And yes, you have to add Canada to US gross because that's how the numbers are reported.

Rio 2 $323k(an increase :lol: ) 922k

Divergent $253k $1.5m 

The Grand Budapest Hotel $231k  $1.2m

CAP 2 164k(50% the biggest drop from the top 10  :( ) $2.4m

Muppets most wanted 78k(an increase) $379k

Mr.Peabody + Sherman $70k(another increase and the biggest one) 923k 

Noah 62k $1.7m
