Yeah, they just need to use them first.

Well they're doing the Harry Potter stuff......and of course the DCCU. Not to mention the other franchises they have.

Yeah, they just need to get right people involved with the other characters (specifically those not named Batman or Superman, if you get my drill).

Amazing. Gary Whitta went back to one of the NeoGAF threads where he shit on the changes made to the Star Wars Blu-Ray and edited all the posts out.

Whitta is a true champion.

Considering part of his tagline is "no one cares about Boba Fett," I think we can cross the intergalactic mercenary off the list.

I like this old neogaf post of his...http://m.neogaf.com/showpost.php?p=31023708&postcount=3814Safe to say he doesn't feel that way anymore. Worth noting his tag or header references Boba Fett....

You have a point, I'm sure the thousands of people who moan about movies on message boards are a clear indicator that the hundreds of millions of people who saw Avatar didn't actually like it.

Many films have been trying to implement The Avengers strategy with expanded universes – Batman V Superman, X Men, TASM 2 etc.. but with Star Wars, despite it still being influenced by the success of TA, it feels organic and natural. Having said that, I don't think a Star Wars spin-off can compete with Avatar 2. I know there are many detractors of the first film, but please hear this: Michael Bay (and I do like his films by the way) releases these Transformers films that are often poorly received. Yet they are marketed so effectively that people still come back. Just imagine how fucking great Avatar will look. I am a huge fan of the film and James Cameron and think it will be great, but despite that, it will most definitely look great and have incredible advertising material.

SHIT THIS GARY WHITTA WROTE AFTER EARTH.

The link mentions he was a writer for the excellent Walking Dead video game. It neglects to mention he wrote the 2nd-weakest episode of the 5-episode Season 1.

While mixed at best right now about the screenwriter, I would love to see Gareth Edwards tackle a Star Wars story. His direction and framing of shots and action in Godzilla was very strong.

But these spinoffs need to be ditched in favor of true expansion of the SW universe. Why settle for Han Solo or Boba Fett when you could go Tales of the Jedi or Knights of the Old Republic or Rise of Darth Bane in your scope and visuals. It's settling for a quick buck instead of long-term cash and quality.

Only on the internet you could actually find people that tell you with a straight face that the highest grossing movie of our era is hated since opening day.

So Edwards helming another half-assed script? Can't they pair him up with talented and seasoned scriptwriters or let the guy writes for once?

The scripts for Avatar 2/3/4 are finished with the sequels releasing in December 2016-December 2018. It's inevitable one of the SW films (standalone or episode) will go up against a sequel. Avatar remains the top grossing film of alltime (unadjusted). Can you say Clash of the Titans???

Edwards is great, but the spin-offs just don't interest me.
