Venezuela Box Office Thread

Recommended Posts

I just read this in the New York Times :

A movie ticket costs about 380 bolívars. Calculated at the government rate, that is $60. At the black-market rate, it is just 54 cents. Want a large popcorn and soda with that? Depending on how you calculate it, that is either $1.15 or $128.

The minimum wage is 7,421 bolívars a month. That is either a decent $1,178 a month or a miserable $10.60.

--> so the Venezuelan box off numbers are completely false in $. The real numbers are something like 100 times lower

Thank you for that Arthur, Boxx93 unfairly ignored you despite the fact it is very interesting. With that I can understand much better how wrobg the current numbers are!

Sorry I am responding you this late Arthur Pendragon.

Anyway, the article you posted is right, the numbers in dollars are wrong because of the multiple exchange rates in the country witch makes it difficult to calculate any accurate number. Witch is the reason why I dont post BOM numbers anymore. Personally I preffer to stick to the admission numbers because of its accuracy.

And yes, popcorns and soda are getting ridiculously expensive to the point that you spend more on movie snacks than in a fast food chain, and the sad thing is, those are getting way expensive too.

I did not wanted this to turn into a Venezuelan Crisis Thread since that particular subject is getting me really depressed as of late and I wanted to keep it strictly Box Office related, but I come off as rude by not responding to your post. Again, I am really sorry for that and for my acttitude towards you.
