The book's language has a certain romance/whimsy to it that makes it palatable. Even when it does get didactic it does it in a charming way

No.  It's not any more forced on children than The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe which is also religious allegory and neither was a book I was ever assigned in school.

Yeah, you don't necessarily have to be able to animate in order to direct an animated film. Hence why I think people make too big a deal out of the difficulties of animation directors going to live action and vice versa. Stanton failed because he got too big an ego and grossly overestimated the appeal the material he was adapting from still had, both of which can just as easily happen to a live action filmmaker with a blank check

Wrinkle in Time is a pretty good book, although it's been a while since I've read it. Definitely interested in how they'll approach the film adaptation.

Neither Marvel nor L'Engle use the actual mathematical concept. They just use it as a cool word (L'Engle's is basically a version of a wormhole and Marvel's is basically a shiny glowing box.)

Knew it didn't really make much sense reading the book. I think Nolan got closer to accuracy.
