BOOM!

MINIONS: $811.4M Overseas Total / $1.145B Global Total #Minions

MINIONS is now the 10th highest film ever overseas!

The film officially beat IRON MAN 3 and SKYFALL's OS grosses! A huge achievement!

It is now the second animated film in history (after FROZEN) to cross 810m overseas! And one of the only 10 movies in history to cross that mark.

Wow.

Universal and Illumination Entertainment’s Minions  on Friday weekend passed Iron Man 3’s$806.4M tally to become the 10th highest-grossing film of all time internationally. This comes after last weekend, the animated family film passed Transformers: Dark of the Moon’s worldwide total ($1.124B) to become the 10th highest-grossing film of all time worldwide. The weekend haul forMinions this weekend is another $6M in 44 territories for a new international cume of $811.4M. China is still holding at No. 5 behind 4 Chinese local films. In China, the animated guys are looking at pulling in another $4.3M for a 22-day total of $67.2M. there. Business, of course, is very good thanks to the National Day Golden Week holidays where businesses and schools are closed. That holiday continues through Wed. Combined with the U.S. total of $333.9M, the worldwide total is now $1.145 Billion. Minions is, as we have reported before but bears repeating, the second highest-grossing animated film worldwide. Frozen is No. 1 with $1.280B. Pretty darn good for a bunch of yellow fellows.

CHINA

Rounding out the top five, Minions held very strong despite several new local animations, dropping just 17% for $4.0 million from ~19,000 showtimes. Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment's film has now grossed $65.6 million in 22 days and ranks behind Ice Age 4, Big Hero 6, and Kung Fu Panda 2 as the 4th highest-grossing imported animated film of all-time in China.

One more record for Minions

The film became this week the longest running animated film in the UAE, where it's still playing in the country's largest cineplexes in its 15th week!

This record was previously held by Frozen with 14 weeks of run!

Incredible esp. that the UAE market rarely plays films more than 10 weeks of run except very few exce[tions in its box office history - notably only FF7, MI4, JW and MI5.

With Minions close to the end of its run, it is worth noting that the Despicable Me franchise is currently the only animated franchise to have two spots in the top five highest-grossing animated films of all time with a staggering 2.67 billion in gross. This makes it the highest animated franchise in history in terms of average gross per film with an average of almost 900m (890m) dollar per film!

Next up are the IA and Shrek franchises with around 750m average gross per film (4 for IA and 5 for the Shrek franchise including its spinoff Puss in Boots).

Amazing!
