I appreciate that you didn't like it but the idea that anyone else could have wrote it is nonsense. The intricacies of Williams' writing and the orchestrations are so far beyond anyone else working today.

Yeah, i was maybe exaggerating, but i really missed the new iconic themes. I didn't like Rey's theme that much, the March of the Resistance was very good though.

Anyone would dare to rank the SW themes? Quickly listing them. Sure I'm missing a few

SW main theme - Luke's theme

Rebels theme

Leia's theme

Force theme

Cantina band

Throne room theme

Imperial March (Vader's theme)

Han & Leia theme

Yoda's theme

Asteroid field theme

Lando's theme

Jabba's theme

Emperor's theme

Luke and Leia's theme

Ewok's theme

Duel of the fates

Anakin's theme

Droid's invasion theme

Flag parade

Qui gon's theme

Jar Jar's theme

Funeral's theme

Across the stars

The arena theme

Battle of the Heroes

Grievous' theme

Immolation/Betrayal's theme

Rey's theme

March of the resistance

Kylo ren's theme

There are other minor themes/recognizable motifs I didn't include.

Forest battle and Victory celebration from ROTJ

Hoth battle, Bobba Fett or Bespin in ESB

First imperial motif, Jawa sandcrawler, Trash compactor in ANH

Escape from Naboo or the Tide turns in TPM

The chase through Coruscant in AOTC

Mustafar theme in ROTS

Starkiller/torn apart motif or Jedi Steps in TFA

I couldn't begin to rank them all but my favorites are

1. Force theme

2. Han/Leia's theme (Williams recently called this Han's theme but I can't buy that)

3. Anakin/Padme's theme

4. Rey's theme

5. Emperor's theme

TFA is comfortably my favorite score of the year now. I just can't stop listening to it. I keep imaging 'The Jedi Steps' becoming a major theme in the next movie.

Bless you John Williams, please never leave us.

Jedi Steps was by far the best theme in the new movie, but it was too short. really hope it is expanded into an iconic theme like, Duel of the Fates or Battle of the Heroes for EP VIII.

I got to be honest I was a little disapointed with The Force Awakens score. it took too much from previous themes. even some of the "new" stuff sounded like themes from EP II and III being spliced together at parts. that being said it has grown on me a lot now. and I really like Rey's Theme and "Torn apart" I just hope there is more full themes made for EP VIII. I mean in ESB. we got, the Imperial March, Yoda's theme, Han Solo and the Princess, Clash of the Lightsaber and "The Asteroid field" all ionic themes. most of the  themes for Force Awakens just felt like accompaniments to the film and not themes of their own.

Throne room theme (This is the same as the Force Theme, remixed as a March)

Asteroid field theme (The track is basically the Imperial March for most of the way. The final cue in the track is Han Solo and the Princess worked in)

The arena theme (This is called the Confederate March)

10. Luke and Leia

11. Anakin’s Betrayal

12. The Flag Parade

13. Trade Federation March

14. Princess Leia’s Theme

15. Imperial Attack

16. Battle of the Heroes

17. The Forest Battle

18. Anakin's Theme

19. Yoda's Theme

Ooh tomorrow going to have a day of listening to pretty much every SW score and making my own rank of themes.

I do understand why TFA score might be met with disappointment but I'm really liking it so far. Haven't even had the time to listen through clean from start to finish, just bits every now and then, but Rey's Theme man... fucking hell. This is Williams through and through. Jedi Steps as well is one that stands out initially.

There's still so much magic here.

Wait, is the song that plays during the bigger part of TFA's credits original or just a slightly different version of something we've heard. When I'm cleaning theatres I feel like I recognize it... but not at the same time.

Oh, and my favourite SW themes are Force Theme, Across the Stars, (idk what it's called but during Luke and vader's final fight)

Despite prolific years from all my favorites (Elfman, Desplat and Thomas Newman) my composer of the year is Craig Armstrong.

Yes, like everything else about the movie it lived up to my hype.

Lots of highlights; the main fiddle-driven themes, the Hisaishi-esque "Mountain Top" and "Lost in the Woods", "Orphans" and "Run with the Herd"

Homestead is such a wonderful track. Puts me in a great mood.
