How many screens by end of this year.

322 theaters were built in last quarter, 1400 screens.

So 5000-6000 new screens will have been built by end of the year.

Aound 30k total by that time.

Big question is when would this growth stop. Can China be able to support 50K or more screens. Looking at real BO i dont see Average numbers of persons per showtime being high?

admissions have held steady at 33-40k per screen per year for the last 10 years. Theaters are small so you wont see high attendance per show. We'll know they over built if we see it break below 32K

China's film market total gross surpasses 20b yuan mark

China's film market has surpassed the 20 billion yuan (US$3.22 billion) mark reached by total gross of films released in China by Monday night, China Movie Channel website 1905.com reported.

The accomplishment was completed in just 180 days, 66 days earlier than it took to reach the same mark last year. China's domestic films earned 9.3 billion yuan (US$1.49 billion) in total, 46.5 percent of the total gross calculating both domestic and foreign films released in Chinese mainland.

As we enter July, the next two months are usually filled with the screening of Chinese made summer blockbusters. Observers are expecting new box office records for Chinese films.
