China: Hollywood Aug-Sept releases over 450 million

4 major Hollywood releases are set to release in China in Aug + Sept.

This club is a prediction that these 4 releases will make over 450 million USD in China.

 

My predictions are:

MI5 - 250 million USD

Minions - 65-75 million USD

Pixels 35-40 million USD

Terminator: 100 million USD

 

Who's in and who's out? What's your predictions for these 4 films in China?

We seem to agree on all except Minions and T5.

I think T5 could be a big hit and I may be under-estimating it. Some say it WILL make more in China than its whole DOM run in the US.

Same for Minions though firedeep and some other users here in the China form think that 1 billion Yuan for Minions is almost impossible (maybe given the competition with MI5 or over-estimating their popularity in China). But what do I know about Chinese market? I would probably go with all your predictions Kylin.

This is a bit too easy.

 

Could make it $500m to be more interesting.

Remove Pixels from the list and this will become interesting. "The big 3 Fall HW China releases over 450m in China". That would still probably be a easy in but still better than right now. The risk of one of them disappointing will make this a more Exciting club. Till then my predicts - MI5 215m (I was conservative on this but apparently its a pretty good movie) Minions 155m TG 90m (this is the one most prone to disappointing IMO)
