This was an unexpectedly good film. So it would be deserved.

65m from japan... Its not an easy target for any film. But this is the kind of film that can work really well there. I dont know how popular the original was but the 90's anime based on it (which was the most important reason for its stunning performance in India) was from here ('anime') so it must have been popular enough.  So I'd say there is still a chance that the 1B might happen

Yeah, kind of sad. 1B sounds so good that when you fall just short...feels odd. Of course, 975m WW is damn good. Probably better than anyone thought for an April release.

Yeah....it's probably harder now to get to the $1B-mark. But it could probably be the new movie to be closest to $1B....if it goes above Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's $974M WW.

Disney's giving it to Dory, not Mowgli

 

I guess they want to maximize the chance of hitting another one-billioner, therefore having four titles and beating Universal's 2015 record.
