TFA beat its original run. Titanic was released. Titanic was released with a better exchange rate.

To give an answer to this topic:

 

the final result of the domestic run is $936,662,225

 

Will be interesting to see whether TFA manages to make more money than the no.1 and 2 of 2016 combined. So far it looks like a good bet, depending on how big Finding Dory and Rogue One (or a possible surprise) turn out to be.

There is no surprise $450m grosser out there.


Unless Independence Day 2 pulls a Jurassic World, which seems a bit unlikely at this point.

People seem to be forgetting that TFA did outgross Titanic, both WW and domestically, Titanic was released in 2012 in 3D and made $343m ww. which would put at $1b,843m before that. TFA surpasses that number by a couple hundred million. so there.
