Plain Old Tele Posted February 11, 2016 Share Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) @OKBJGM: the character description issue is the symptom of the greater issue of what roles women play in most mainstream film and tv. @OKBJGM: it's easy when writing so curtly to fall into sexist shorthand... but also, context and the actual story should be taken into account @OKBJGM: in conclusion: character descriptions in scripts are designed to give the equivalent of a first look before you see the character in action. @OKBJGM: i am comfortable that i put a lot of empowered/ing female characters in my material, but this makes me wish i were better on a craft level.
