PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES | 622.3 M overseas ● 794.9 M worldwide

Recommended Posts

I think this one will drop BIG. Dollar is way stronger than 2011 and developed markets will crash for this one. It wont be as bad as alice as jack sparrow is more popular than mad hatter but it wont be anywhere close to the peak. I would say 350m OS-C and 100M China for 450m OS and 125m domestic.

I am too emotionally biased to make a good estimation but I think that, if it is marketed well and has decent WOM, then it could stay around the same levels thanks to the guaranteed increase in China. I'll wait for the first trailer to give a precise estimate, but at the moment I don't think it can make less than $700M OS.

Pirates 5 now is the most anticipated English films of 2017 on Douban(film fans website) and Maoyan(moviegoers website).

From the Chinese thread

In Indonesia, the subtitle is changed to Salazar's Revenge. Anybody else have the same thing?

Same in Spanish (both Spain and Latin America it seems!)

Here in Brazil too... "A vingança de Salazar".

Here in Germany it's also called "Salazars revenge". Seems like a near worldwide thing.

It would not be very surprising if China becomes its biggest market, over DOM.

That to me is highly probable. Its going to drop quite a bit domestic for sure. China has a prime release date and its kind of film that should explode over there. I am thinking

china - 1.5B ( ~ 215 m )

Domestic - 170m

OS minus China - 400m (its going to drop hard in many developed markets).

WW about 800m.
