No release date on IMDB for China

I forgot it in my prediction

So yeah definitely over 400M+ WW but still a huge disappointment

I seem to remember it opens the weekend after Homecoming around 15/9. Should do 100-125 mill there

so apes3 looking at:

145-150 dom (58.5-63.5 below apes2)

100-105 china (2-7 below apes2)

235-245 os-china (150-160 below apes2)

480-500 ww (210-230 below apes2)

In all honesty, considering the even more diabolical exchange rates compared to 2014/2011 and the dark tone of the movie, its not that bad.

I think considering it was a finale, the drop from 700+ to 500+ would be a punch in the gut especially since it seems to have good reception. But yeah, factoring in the exchange rates and lack of competition Dawn had in 2014, easier to digest.

a2k, how you see the chances for 500m WW? I'm not aware how many markets are left. DOM looks 145m. It would feel a small victory to pass the first Apes.  500 WW on a 150m budget is still a very solid run. Dawn was clearly the outlier of the franchise.

Cutting on the budget to a 150m (if that is true) instead of a 236m - tax credit for the previous in entry sound like it was a good idea considering the performance and the movie not having a direct sequel anyway, better off cash milking the last entry it will not have as much consequence anyway.

But maybe a bigger and more impressive/spectacular set piece for that war instead of a

Spoiler

cheap fast easy ex-machina avalange exit

would have helped that movie leg (and the trailers) quite a bit.

APES added 25 over the whole week OS. So should do ~30 more OS from current markets. 176.6 + 30.4 = 207

Dom could end around 148.

China could do 90.

SK+Japan could do 30.

207 (OS-China-Japan-SK) + 148 Dom + 90 China + 30 (Japan+SK) = 475 WW

If OS from current markets brings 5 more than my estimate (for 212), if Japan and SK bring 5 more combined (for 35) and China does 15 more (for 105) then 500 could happen: 212 +148 + 105 + 35 = 500
