BOT Top 100 Animated Films of all time - 24hours left to get votes in...

Recommended Posts

I think Who Framed Roger Rabbit could count as an animated feature if you go by the AMPAS definition.

Rule Seven:

Quote

Definition: An animated feature film is defined as a motion picture with a running time of more than 40 minutes, in which movement and characters’ performances are created using a frame-by-frame technique. Motion capture by itself is not an animation technique. In addition, a significant number of the major characters must be animated, and animation must figure in no less than 75 percent of the picture’s running time.

Only hurdle is the 75% rule. I don't think we need to include it for the list to be interesting, though.

Nice list, but I think your #1 might be ineligible, as it went direct to video.

According to wiki it was released in theaters for a brief time.

"The Animatrix was also screened in select cinemas around the world for a short period of time, a week or two before the sequel The Matrix Reloaded, as a promotional event."

If lion king 2 got a cinema release somewhere and is eligible,  i will personally invent time travel and erase it from history :)

Or go to wikipedia and erase the part where it says "Unlike the North American release, Simba's Pride was theatrically released in European and Latin American countries in spring 1999."

Don't worry, it won't be very high on my list. but seriously as far Disney animated sequels go, it's pretty decent. mostly becuase alot of the songs were written for the original. and some are even in the broadway version of the film.

Yups, will send in a full Top 100 list as soon as I get some time over the weekend. My new list will look very different to my 2014 list (or at least the top half will) thanks to my exposure to the marvellous films of Satoshi Kon in the time since. Unfortunately this multiple votes bonus scoring system kind of ensures they will not place in the final list no matter how high I score them :P Watch some Satoshi Kon work before October, BOT peeps. You will not regret it :)

FANTASTIC MR FOX, INSIDE OUT, TEAM AMERICA, and a metric shitton of Studio Ghibli and Stop Motion will likely be on my list.

And while it's really too early to give it the appropriate consideration, Kubo will definitely be on here somewhere.
