2017 Worldwide Blockbuster - 500 mil and up

Recommended Posts

Guys, I'd like to hear your predictions on 2017 movies that will hit 500 million worldwide or more.

We have the usual suspects like SW8, JL, F8 ....... what about the rest?

11 movies so far in 2016 (maybe 3-5 more)

14 movies in 2015

15 movies in 2014

12 movies in 2013

13 movies in 2012

Seems like 2014 is the record?

1650  (700+950)  -  Star Wars 8

1130  (280+850)  -  Fast Furious 8

1065  (365+700)  -  Beauty and the Beast

1040  (290+750)  -  Despicable Me 3

  910  (210+700)  -  Transformers 5

  860  (335+525)  -  Guardians of the Galaxy 2

  760  (260+500)  -  Justice League

  750  (175+575)  -  Pirates 5

  730  (230+500)  -  Thor 3

  690  (190+500)  -  Planet of the Apes 3

  680  (230+450)  -  Spiderman

  600  (250+350)  -  Wonder Woman

  575  (175+400)  -  The Mummy

  500  (150+350)  -  Kong: Skull Island

  500  (  75+425)  -  The Great Wall

  500  (175+325)  -  Coco

That's 16.  Might be too many, the last 3 are the 'maybes', with Dunkirk, 50 Shades 2 and Lego Batman as possible-but-unlikely's.

2. Fast & Furious 8 = $1.3B WW

3. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 = $1.175B WW

4. Despicable Me 3 = $1.135B WW

5. Beauty and the Beast = $1.060B WW

6. War for the Planet of the Apes = $1.035B WW

7. Transformers 5 = $975M WW

I'd say Lego Batman has a way better chance of topping Coco than the other way around. Pirates 5 and Justice League will both hit 850m at least. Furious 8 is too high, same with Star Wars 8.

Illumination = trash

:( Aaww.

What about the first DM? Secret Life of Pets? Doesn't any of those please you at all?

Is that rather why you would prefer Pixar winning? :P

You're making MinaTakla disappointed and hurting his feelings.

First DM is only good movie from them, and I have 0 interest in SLOP.

The trailers all look awful to me.

Well don't try to lowball any of these upcoming Illumination-movies though, and wishfully think they need to underperform...because of your apathy against them. It doesn't work that way.

Same thing with movies like say.....Transformers or a DCCU-movie. They'll still be big either way.

I know why you're lowballing some movies here and there. Because you don't care.

And i see that you rather want Pixar/Disney to win.

Good or bad, it doesn't matter. The blockbusters makes the big grosses either way.

No way in hell, that you can force people to stay away from Illumination-movies as possible. They have their audiences....deal with it. That's how it is.

I give little to no crap about what you think about that animation studio.

Even Bluesky & Dreamworks has their audiences.
