MCU news

Recommended Posts

I often have no idea where to post news related tp the MCU, so I thought maybe this is a possibility:

So, I didn't even knew the Inhumans will be a TV-series instead (?) od a cinema movie, but I wasn't a lot here or elswhere media related the las 1/2 year or so:

IMAX, Marvel Television strike 'Inhumans' cross-platform deal:

Quote

IMAX will exclusively premiere the first two episodes of Marvel’s The Inhumans in 2017 as it seeks to expand programming beyond traditional blockbuster corridors.

In an unprecedented arrangement, the large-screen pioneer will debut a version of the first two episodes of the upcoming ABC series from Marvel Television for two weeks in its worldwide theatres at the start of September 2017.

The deal marks the company’s first foray as a financing participant in a TV pilot and series and is the first time a live-action television series will launch this way.

ABC, IMAX and Marvel Television intend to create a joint marketing and promotion plan for the series across their platforms, which would also be the first cross-platform marketing launch of a television series.

Marvel’s The Inhumans is based on a race of superhumans first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965.

The series will explore the hitherto untold story of Black Bolt and the royal family and is being produced in conjunction with ABC Studios and will film entirely on IMAX digital cameras.

After the IMAX window, ABC will launch the weekly series next autumn with additional exclusive content that will be available only on the network.

To complete the news about MCU / Disney streaming:

Elizabeth Olsen / Scarlett Witch get's seemingly an own show

Quote

per /Film's Peter Sciretta:

The other thing I’m hearing is that Paul Bettany‘s Vision will have a large part in the previously reported Scarlet Witch show. In fact, it may actually be a series more about the super-powered couple than just Wanda.

Also Tom Hiddleston / Loki

Also reported by Deadline and so on in September

Quote

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will oversee the new initiative, which would use limited-run television shows (typically six- to eight-episode story arcs) to dig into the stories of fan-favorite Marvel characters that don’t have their own film franchises.

in September too:

Marvel and Disney publicists declined comment on the record Wednesday.

Not sure what the actual status of the info is, but I thought if this thread should provide 'news', it should be included for now

Wonder Woman 2's writer is jumping from DC to Marvel! He's been hired to scrip a mystery MCU film.

Quote

Phase 4 is largely a mystery at this point, especially when it comes to what has been officially announced. Spider-Man: Far From Home will kick off the new Phase, and additional reports have finally started to make it clear what will come next.  All signs point to Black Widow starting production early next year, with The Eternals set to follow it later in the year. This also appears to be Marvel's planned release strategy according to a rumored 2020 MCU slate. Some of Marvel's other projects have also been receiving some updates, and we may be able to add another new project to their potential slate - we just don't know what it is.....

...

David Callahan has been hired to write a mystery film for Marvel Studios. Callahan's previous credits include The ExpendablesDoom, and Godzilla. In addition to working on DC's Gal Gadot led sequel, he's also been working on scripts for Zombieland 2 and Mortal Kombat ...

...

Ryan Coogler is directing and writing Black Panther 2, so this probably isn't Callahan's project. The other non-fit should be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 since the latest updates still say Marvel will use James Gunn's script. It also can't be a X-Men or Fantastic Four movie, since Marvel Studios can't legally work on these projects until the Disney-Fox acquisition is finalized. So what projects is Callahan left with?  Even though many believed director Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill would both return to write the script, he could potentially be doing work on Doctor Strange 2. There's also been reports of a Dark Avengers script floating around Marvel Studios and Callahan could be their choice to come in and finish it. Characters like Nova and Adam Warlock have been discussed as having the potential to lead their own films, so maybe Callahan is being brought in to help shape the cosmic side of the MCU.

Updates... I should do more often (I thought others would do them also?)

Stan Lee 1922-2018 got a real nice recognition in CM. Too early to tell see spoiler rules

Captain Marvel did good in its first week, exact numbers see the threads

Marvel Studios is now actively casting for its solo Black Widow film ahead of a scheduled June start to production and casting director Sarah Finn and company have begun to narrow down the lists of candidates for several roles. Chief among those roles is a second female lead, which we originally described here as a “kick ass female Bond”, for which the studio is said to be seeking an actress capable of a physically demanding role who also “feels similar” to star Scarlet Johansson.

I read repeatedly the movie might be set into the '2000 time-line, means it plays after CM, but before IM 1 and IHulk I guess

Also reading a rumour about a series (or movie) with Hawkeye training a young hero

Quote

The project is described as an adventure series in which archery master Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, will pass the torch to Kate Bishop, a member of the group known as the Young Avengers, and first female to take the Hawkeye name after Clint Barton.

Renner has played the Marvel comics character since 2011 with an uncredited cameo in Thor. He went on to play the role in Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War, and will next be seen in Avengers: Endgame, which opens April 26.

The series would join Disney+’s growing slate of series focused on Marvel characters and is part of an initiative by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to use limited-run television shows (typically six- to eight-episode story arcs) to feature stories of fan-favorite Marvel characters that don’t have their own film franchises.

Disney+ previously announced a greenlight for miniseries featuring Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch Marvel characters.

Disney subscription streaming service Disney+ is expected to launch in late 2019.

Variety was first to report on the Hawkeye project.
