Considering that Prometheus hit 50M despite a great marketing campaign (this does not have a great marketing campaign) and that it carries that bad wom from its predecessor? I don't know if it's that easy.

Trailer views aren't everything, you know?

I disagree big time on that. Fox is consistently releasing viral marketing videos, and those three ads that aired during TWD's finale were a big boost.

I don't watch The Walking Dead so I didn't see them, but if they did, that's a great move on their part, I'll give them that. If by viral marketing videos you mean stuff like that prologue thing, I don't think that's something worth being very proud of (but that's more personal feeling than anything).

I didn't understand the resurgence part.

Are you talking about this year, that they will come back in studios' race?

As in it'll perform similar to Independence Day: Resurgence ($103M) at the domestic box office.

Even removing my three wild cards, that's still 10 in the bag.  I think it beats the record.

Assuming Transformers can get to 40M :redcapes:

16. Spider-Man: Homecoming (just did $50M opening day)

17. War for the Planet of the Apes

18. Dunkirk *

19. It *

20. Kingsman: The Golden Circle *

21. Blade Runner 2049 *

22. Thor: Ragnarok

23. Justice League

24. Coco *

25. Star Wars: The Last Jedi

26. Pitch Perfect 3 *

27. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle *

* means I have even the slightest doubt.

Dunkirk seems obvious, but Interstellar only did $49M, so just being cautious. It seems more like a movie with legs than a big OW, but I do still think it will do around Interstellar's numbers.

It wasn't even considered for this until those trailer views, so I have to keep that initial doubt in mind. Still thinking $50-55M though.

Kingsman looks to be another obvious $50M+, but I wouldn't be surprised if its fans are just really vocal and it falls even a little short. Too many things have flopped this year.

2049 is one of the biggest wild cards. The original is a cult classic, and it will be huge with its fans, but it looks very niche at the moment. Will that be enough for $40M? I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't with the way things have been flopping lately.

Coco seems to be another obvious $40M+, but it's opening on Wednesday for a five day weekend, so I have to calm three day expectations a bit.

Same goes for Jumanji. That and PP3 also have being holiday releases to keep in mind, so legs are bigger than OWs. I also can easily see Jumanji flopping harder than Passengers, and PP3 is gonna take a big fall from PP2.
