There are a couple of unexplainable weak months this year. Thanks God we had Split this January, but what about August and September schedule? In BOM there are scheduled only 15 movies in 9 weeks, and barely a couple of them look as possible breakouts to me.

Things will need to move, like I think that they should move Kingsman earlier or TBD some films.

They should move Kingsman to the first weekend of August, it makes no sense to release 2 high profile rated R films on the same weekend, and August is looking incredibly weak right now.

Something needs to be in August right now anyway.

So, on opening day alone, Fast 8 has pushed past the 40M mark, making this 9 already for 2017:

1 - Split (40M)

2 - The Lego Batman Movie (53M)

3 - Fifty Shades Darker (46M)

4 - Logan (88M)

5 - Kong: Skull Island (61M)

6 - Beauty And The Beast (174M)

7 - Power Rangers (40M)

8 - The Boss Baby (50M)

9 - The Fate Of The Furious (95-100M)

So, if we need 24 overall...

Asterisk means in doubt

10 - Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 (145-160M)

11 - Alien: Covenant (40-45M)*

12 - Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (70-75M)

13 - Wonder Woman (110-120M)

14 - Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (40-45M)

15 - The Mummy (40-45M)*

16 - Cars 3 (60-65M)

17 - Transformers: The Last Knight ("100M" ;) - more like 90-95M)

18 - Despicable Me 3 (100-110M)

19 - Spider-Man: Homecoming (120-130M)

20 - War For The Planet Of The Apes (90-95M)

21 - Dunkirk (45-50M)

22 - It (45-50M)

23 - The Lego Ninjago Movie (40M)*

24 - Kingsman: The Golden Circle (45-50M)

And should any of the asterisk ones fail...

25 - Blade Runner 2049 (45-50M)*

26 - Thor: Ragnarok (105-115M)

27 - Justice League (145-150M)

28 - Coco (40-45M)

30 - Pitch Perfect 3 (45-50M)*

So yeah, the record is most certainly going down, baby.

Alien is easily hitting 40M. I'm willing to say 45M is the floor tbh

Considering that Prometheus hit 50M despite a great marketing campaign (this does not have a great marketing campaign) and that it carries that bad wom from its predecessor? I don't know if it's that easy.

Spoiler

Trailer views aren't everything, you know?
