They dont even explain how she comes back to life or how she learned her new powers.  Just shows up in her new North Face Jacket and starts kicking ass and everyone in the audience is like

They explained it enough. The water is the path to the spirit world, where she was granted her new powers and reanimated back into the world. Also, it wasn't a North Face jacket.
