I believe I remember you not being a fan of the Wizard of Oz (which is one my top 10 alltime movies).  Maybe that was Baumer though.

I like it, I just don't love it (probably because I discovered the books before I saw the movie).

Was just having a look at the nominations for the NZ Film Awards, which are pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme, but it's cool to see what gets noticed. Anyway, Wilderpeople, to the shock of no-one, got the most nominations with 15 for;

Best Film

Best Director

Best Screenplay

Best Actress

Best Actor

Best Supporting Actress

Best Supporting Actor

Best Cinematography

Best Production Design

Best Score

Best Sound

Best Costume Design

Best Makeup Design

 

Which is probably a record but I'd have to check. Might/probably will pull a mini-LLL down here and sweep the awards.

 

Also Tickled got a few of nominations as well and I can't recommend that documentary enough.

This movie was fucking great! It's way up there on what I've seen from 2016. Finally caught it yesterday night.

Best Supporting Actress - Rima Te Wiata

 

Best Supporting Actor - Sam Neil

 

Best VFX

 

Lost in a lot of the technical categories to Slow West (which I haven't seen but it has Fassbender apparently) and a couple of others but not a bad haul. Danny Boyle was there presenting an award which was neat.

Slow West also has Ben Mendelsohn in a fabulous fur coat.
