Resident Evil is probably looking at a similar run to the latest Underworld. Not too bad (assuming it had a reasonable budget, of course) for the 6th installment of a franchise that had niche appeal from the beginning and has been going at it for so damn long.

 

After the damaging bit of free press it received, Universal should be happy with a mid-high teens opening for A Dog's Purpose.

I would say that this previews for RE guarantees an opening close to 20M.

Well, yeah, good for both. Resident Evil opening to 20m would actually be a pretty big win for it as that's the range it pretty much always opens to. It's all about that OS cash.

15-20m opening and 35-40m total for Resident Evil would be a win considering its low budget and its OS focus.
