Great Wall headed for a similar run to Dracula Untold. Obviously a dud, but likely would've been even worse without Damon.

Fist Fight's number is solid. Should be between $20-25M for the 4-day holiday given that it's not an early showing movie at all.

Well, TGW is supposed to make most of its money in China & Asia anyway. Whatever the movie earns in NA is supposed to cover the catering, trailers, celebrity make-up artists, TV appearances, publicists, legalities, "pr/media advisors" & other nonsense fees.

Isn't Great Wall going to actually get 2x as much back form China as a regular  Hollywood production?

Yep. It's not even really a Hollywood production, it primarily a Chinese production, which made some of the complaints earlier, a bit sillier.

I guess the earlier report that Passengers would be running with Resident Evil really meant Passengers was picking up a lot of its screens.

Still don't get why Universal didn't just release Great Wall domestically back in December along with the China release. Holiday legs could have saved some face.

It is really not easy to get a December wide release for non-franchise, non-family/christmas movie like that, you need to fight for it and win over the competition, Universal cannot decide to release a movie a certain popular date for movie release.

Yea, I don't know why people are treating TGW as a typical blockbuster. Crouching Tiger did $128M and the more cerebral Hero did $40M plus. But those movies are bad-ass martial art movies with some of the best state-of-the-art choreography. You mix in CGI, NA audiences bail. Also, I think people are sick of Lord of the Rings-inspired CGI-enhanced "massive battle sequences" The best FX movies like Gravity, Revenant & Fury Rd, you tend not to see the special effects.

The Great Wall will probably do poorly because it looks like shit. Fascinating shit yes, but shit nonetheless.

I wonder if The Great Wall was the reason Tull was booted from Legendary? Apart from Jurassic World and Straight Outta Compton which were already in development before Legendary were brought in to finance, none of their projects have been successful at Universal, Warcraft doesn't count because Universal didn't handle the Chinese release

Is there a thread about the box office mojo survey, anyone concerned that they might do something bad to the site?

not a thread, but some people have commented on it. Here or in classic conversation, I forget which.

It's just a survey. Anything other than that is baseless speculation, so there's no need for a thread.

no thread - not sure they will do anything bad persay, but I am concerned they may eventually take most of the information pay-to-view.... Mojo has gone way down since IMDB bought them out but they are still the most well laid out and archived website for historic data.

It is not baseless speculation to worry that BOM could go away with no warning.   Perhaps you should read about how these forums came about...
