Where the hell are the numbers for openers

This is the sad always neglected Thur #s topic.

Numbers for all the great new openers (hah!) will be in Friday's topic.  Unless they had good preview numbers we'll probably have to wait until around 1pm PST for Deadline to throw some numbers against the wall and see if they stick. :P

65%+ drop is coming unless it has huge Fri and Sat jumps.

F8 finishes below $200M DOM?

Nah, i don't think it goes below. If something like Spectre could get to $200M DOM with a lower opening weekend, F8 could go over that film.

I don't think it will go under $200M either but it has been dropping harder than BvS which has 1.99x multiplier. F8 needs 2.025x multiplier to go over $200M

Relax and calm down. I know F8 will find a way somewhere to reach over that mark. ?

Spectre got to $200M quietly.

Spectre's corpse was dragged over the finish line in the most glaring way possible.  It's not a comparable run though since that had Thanksgiving Holidays and then at the end some Christmas/New Years.

A better comparison would be Godzilla which opened to $93m and eventually dragged over $200m even with a near 67% drop on Memorial Day w/e where it did a bit less than $31m.

True. But i chose Spectre as a comparison mainly due to both Fast 8 & that film being non-CGI spectacle action-films.

And yes...Godzilla is a pretty much closer comparison in terms of opening weekends, but that's more of a monster/creature-feature film that was more sold on it's brand-name and Godzilla itself.

Today is a sad day for Star Wars lovers.

For the first time in the last 40 years, Star Wars is outside the top 10 in USA

I don´t think any movie will achieve this again, being 40!!!!!! years between top 10 earners....
