Saw Unforgettable today. Eh. Falls into that trap where it tries to serve up both drama and trashy thrills and the result is like two different movies neither of which accomplishes much. Should have either kept working on the script until it became legitimate dramatic material (the seeds are definitely there) or gone straight for the glorious delirium of The Boy Next Door, alas the end result is neither here nor there.

Sounds similar to what Double Toasted said: the film isn't trashy fun, just boring.

There are maybe 10 minutes of trashy fun in the entirety of it. And it's really fun too, there's one bonkers scene in particular that would be right at home in some cheaply polished DTV erotic thriller circa 10-15 years ago. But it's all tonally divorced from the rest of the movie, which is moderately engaging but very rarely entertaining.

My boss just texted me we had a customer last night who was super rattled we didn't have an advanced screening of unforgettable. She said she wouldn't leave until she spoke to a representative from head office because it "wouldn't be fair because she wouldn't be able to get tickets for another showtime cause they would be all sold out"

I just saw that The Promise has a $100M budget. Lord that is gonna be a massive write-off.

Probably in the $80s with the tax credit but it was a privately financed passion project by a billionaire in his 90s (the now late Kirk Kerkorian) and you can't take it with you.

I saw Unforgettable, it's  pretty boring and lacks the trashy thrills it should be delivering on. It's like a TV movie that somehow got released into theaters. Also you have to wonder why it's rated R, there isn't nothing R rated in it at all.

Quote

Born in China with what appears to be $2.5M today for a respectable estimate of $6M to $7M for the weekend (it bowed at a midnight screening).

Unforgettable right now looks like it may take $1.75M today be we expect that number will likely rise for a three-day tally of anywhere between $4M and $6M.

The Promise is expected to come in with maybe $1.5M as it looks now (night-time audience aside) and still on track for the $4M+ three-day.

The horror film Phoenix Forgotten and the NRA wet dream film Free Fire are shooting blanks and both will be lucky to come in over $1M.

Meanwhile, Universal’s Fate of the Furious may crank out around $11M today and perhaps $38M to $39M

The Boss Baby -  $2M to $3M today for another nice $11M weekend

Does said trashiness include Katherine Heigl masturbating to the sight of her ex and Rosario Dawson getting it on? Because that looked pretty hilarious

The Disneynature documentaries never seem to do huge business, I guess they aren't hugely expensive to make and must make enough for them to do another film next year.

"the NRA wet dream film Free Fire

"These estimates are very early. Even so, for the newcomers it will be like swimming in the middle of the ocean without a life jacket."

"[Fate of the Furious] has done pretty decent mid-week numbers."

Even the Deadline guy hates this weekend lol
