Guardians OS gross is meh considering it opened in some big markets on tuesday with previews on monday. its pre thursday gross for those markets would be 8-10m. With China looking like not growing much its definitely not sniffing 1B. In fact even 900m is improbable.

Ahahahaha

Must be the first time a Bollywood film has cracked the top three. I suspect it won't happen again for a long time. The PTA must be insane.

And it's not even Bollywood. It's a Tollywood (Telugu) film.

Also, how awesome is it that there's a Sandalwood film industry?

Baahubali has the second biggest PTA of the year, and Latin Lover has a PTA not too far from what Split/Get Out/Batman/Fifty Shades/Boss Baby had on their OWs :ohmygod: Hell, its PTA was higher than John Wick's! Fucking Lionsgate, man.

The Boss Baby is catching up to Home at the same point, it is having better late legs. Great for DreamWorks, another surprise hit.

Love to see a latin and an indian film beating The Circle even though I have nothing against this movie.

Moral of the story is: know your underserved audience.

I think The Circle is headed for a 65%+ drop next weekend. Every theater that isn't a 15-24 screen multiplex will be eager to drop it in two weeks.

See what I said on the other page. A lot of 10 screeners will probably keep it and most if not all 12+'s will keep it. It's definitely heading towards sub-1k on May 19 though.

why they never think of to release it in 1000+ or even 2000+ theater?

Eh.

Next weekend: 3.7M

May 12: 1.7M

I don't see how those three films will stay above The Circle two weeks from now.

I meant the PTA.   $1.7m on 3163 screens is a $537 PTA.  What theater is sticking with that?  It will lose about at least 1k screens and be down a lot of showtimes.

I think those drops are also too generous.  Next week it might be down 65%

Not if its PTA next weekend is sub $1K (and it's possible).

Because NOBODY expected it to do this well and theaters with a low Hispanic demo didn't see the point in getting it. I think it'll hit 2k theaters next weekend.

They have a very good idea from prior releases which locations the film will play best in.  The same reason Indies are targeted for certain markets and usually drastically shed PTA as they expand.

Saying this now, Captain Underpants will be the Trolls, to Wonder Woman's as the slightly higher Doctor Strange.
