Weekend thread: GOTG2 63 m | Snatched 17.5 mi | King Arthur 14.7 m

Recommended Posts

Remainder of this week: 18M (266.4M Total)

May 19: 36M (10.5M weekdays, 312.9M Total)

May 26: 24.4M (9M weekdays, 346.3M Total)

Jun 2: 9.8M (4M weekdays, 360.1M Total)

Jun 9: 5M (2.7M weekdays, 367.8M Total)

Jun 16: 2.7M (1.5M weekdays, 372M Total)

Jun 23: 1.2M (700k weekdays, 373.9M Total)

Final Total: 377M (2.57x)

I think people are reaching a bit with 400M. Keep in mind it's losing the majority of its large formats this weekend which never results in an "amazing" hold.

I know a lot of people overpredicted Guardians 2 (myself included), but quite a few people also said that it would stay flat or even decrease from the first film. So overall, when its run is finished, it'll finish right in the middle of that range, which is really good.

I know I been called crazy with my predictions for The Star but if it looks good and is good to the GA, I can see it over Coco.

November 2017 just looks all-around strong. It reminds me of a larger November 2012.

I could see:

Justice League - $150 million/$310 million

Coco - $65 million/$255 million

Thor: Ragnorak - $105 million/$245 million

The Star - $45 million/$185 million

Murder on the Orient Express - $50 million/$155 million

Daddy's Home 2 - $25 million/$80 million

A Bad Moms Christmas - $15 million/$50 million

The Star is the wild-card IMO. It could shock us all and do $225-275 million DOM (causing Coco to do 'only' $150-180 million DOM), or it could do Storks numbers and get its own WWW thread.

Why such a big drop for Bad Moms?

It reminds me of Horrible Bosses 2. Plus, Suburbicon and Murder on the Orient Express should draw in a similar adult demographic.

Horrible Bosses had a premise that was only good for one movie and the sequel didn't give audiences any good reason to come back. Bad Moms 2, at least so far, doesn't sound like it's going to be a retread of its predecessor.
