Wednesday #s: Baywatch 1.25M in previews

Recommended Posts

How POTC looks at my theater tonight:

7:00: 90/124

7:00 3D: 32/78

8:00 3D: 23/78

9:00: 27/113

This is selling much better than Alien did last week, and there's still over 3 hours to go. I'm still thinking this can do over 70M for the 3 day.

Baywatch has a combined total of 25 tickets for the shows after 7.

Lmao, this needs more than double of what Alien did to even open decently.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had the smallest drop of the top five (-25%). On par with the first movie drop, but bigger than 'Civil War' (-21.4%) and 'Age of Ultron' (-22.9%).

GOTG Vol 2  ($2,534,650) > A: AoU ($2,329,898) > CA: CW ($2,272,708).

Somewhere in one of these threads @MikeQ mentioned that Guardians of the Galaxy would probably only decline by about 25% based on history. Good call Mike.

Usually go see a movie around Memorial Day weekend, but I can't seem to muster up excitement with baywatch or Pirates 5. Especially with the shitty reviews.

Even with decent reviews, I wouldn't be excited for either of them.

Seems my local theaters are betting on Baywatch to be a late night hit...both theaters added on extra screens for shows starting 6pm or later starting Friday...

As for Pirates, tracking my mall theater (which I did all week) - with the 9 showings (2 3d Imax, 3 3d, 4 regular - all 200-300 seat theaters so roughly 2000 available seats), it's now at...

109 Imax 3d

14 3d (finally sold some seats)

118 regular 2d

Decided to also check my local - it has 4 showings tonight - 2 3d (same Baywatch theater size) 2 2d (200 seat theater)...it's doing better there on 2d...

21 seats sold 3d (out of 250 possible)

191 seats sold 2d (out of 400 possible, but 7pm show is 75% sold which is good)...

Tuesday's get bigger and bigger every year. Tuesdays from last year were bigger than the year before and Tuesday this year is bigger than last year. So the small percentage more that Guardians dropped makes sense.

The third Batman was radically different from the first two. :kitschjob:

This whole "all superhero movies at identical" probably comes from people who don't bother to notice the minor and major details.

It's like someone who doesn't watch sports saying all football games are the same.

I'll probably watch 7 movies this summer:

Guardians

Aliens

Wonder Woman

Despicable Me

Spider-man

Apes

Valerian

That's more than the typical summer.

I'm seeing my 7th movie of the month tomorrow :redcapes:
