All credit should be given to the Alamo Drafthouse -- I don't see how WB is involved at all (though it's possible they might've helped promote it to various media outlets).

I am sure that the Alamo Drafthouse cleared it with Warners...and Warners Marketing knew how the MRA crowd would react.

Whoever did it:Well played, people,Well Played.

Equating, "madam"? I'm merely saying that the very idea of banning one sex from any event is sexist. Period. This is a bad example.

Sexism :

prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex.

none of this can happen due to single innocent event when both women and men have every option-1 to go see this movie.

If there is only man screening of baywatch, only 1, there will be a big uproar but it will not be wrong.

But theaters will not do it because of bad publicity.

Why bad publicity, because women's opportunities have been and still to this day are been taken by men unfairly in every fucking society so why the fuck one more screening.

That's the difference b/w only men and only women screening.

And your example of only white and only nazi are not stupid but patethic.

Also how the fuck this screening is the start of a segregation movement?

And oh! You live in sweden, well I live in India and I know what segregation based on sex and sexism in almost worst form is like.

Christ, you don't get it, do you? I have nothing against the Wonder Woman movie. I'll watch it. I hope it'll do great. I'm a DC fan. No, this isolated incident won't oppress one gender that much. That seems to be your argument. Don't you see the problem with that?

"The MRA crowd." Indeed. If you're interested in equality between the sexes, you're an MRA now. I only thought I was a Socialist.

How many thinkpieces would we be getting right now if it was a men only screening? I can imagine the headlines "Patriarchy  strikes once again", "Sexist theater chain illustrates the problem with our society". I don't think people should care either way, but I wish some stopped doing mental gymnastics to justify Alamo's publicity stunt and were little more consistent.

Do you think "ladies night" is discriminatory?

Why or why not?

"I'm allowed to discriminate against men, because men have been evil to me." Good one. You are the one using a male "title" as an insult here. Don't you understand how this is toxic? Did I bring up your gender?! And no, you are wrong. Men aren't the privileged gender "in every fucking society" anymore. Where I live, by pretty much every criteria women are better off, yet they scream about being "oppressed" by "the evil patriarchy" of Sweden, i.e. the very state that cements their privilege.

"none of this can happen due to single innocent event when both women and men have every option" - again, wrong. Both women and men do not have every option. Again, this is a symbolic move.

I agree that it really isn't a big deal but you cannot deny that in a similar male only occasion there would have been a ton of outrageous comments about sexism.

Sexism is not only against women. From a theoritical point of view, yes this is sexist.

I would never complain for such a thing, basically it is not worthy.

But it would be great If some women were not that sensitive in similar occasions.

I believe people should be allowed to run their businesses however they please.

But, there are civil rights laws in place to make sure that this doesn't happen.

Moderation:

Talking about the specific WW screenings is fine. But any larger conversation about sexism, gender issues, Marxism, etc should probably go somewhere else.

Fine. I'll be twerking in the corner if anyone needs me.

Would you say the same thing to a black woman being told she can't watch that movie at that particular location and evening?

This is symbolic. Do you know why I am sensitive to these things? I'm a Marxist. Living in Sweden. The so-called "radical Left" is infected with these segregationist ideas. I've been exposed to their fascist policies more than most people.

If it was on race it would be different, same would be true for a gym for whites only versus some Gym for women only, not all segregation example are equal and interchangeable (few have issue with a women only restroom or changing room for example, almost everyone would for a white/black only restroom).

Not saying you are wrong to have an issue with that segregation case and there is an argument to make against it for sure, just saying that the change the sex for race rarely create a really equivalent situation.

Also women projection of movie is a bit common I think , Rought Night had some women night out early screening and many movie in the past in my market had some women promo girls night out type of event too (pitch perfect, 50 shades), it is making some noise now probably just because it is a SH movie.

Has long as those people made more noise and never took the side of a bakery that didn't want to serve gay couple for their marriage (or other example where they were pro business serve who they want), I don't have a big problem with people that are against segregation like that but sometime it is a bit silly (people that goes in court against women only gym in a city with other gym for example, or recently we had a women that went in court for the right to participate in a men only Carpenter club for divorced men).

And in this case it does feel a bit silly they create a environment were woman can go see the movie close to the release date without having any chance to encounter fanboy-ism issue (people got in a fight and the cops came in a BvS opening weekend in the theater I usually go to for example), it is a couple screening at a speciality theatre chain, there is other movie theatre playing the same movie at the same time in the same city...

I don't see anything wrong with women only screening for a female lead super hero movie that has been in the make for years and years. We get men only sport events in my country. We get some women only events too. All of these examples have other places having the same activity for both men and women.

I mean there is women only gym and men only gym. It's not a big deal. And I do agree that even if there was a men only screening for 300 I wouldn't be upset.

I see something wrong with events discriminating on the base of gender and the color of your skin.

I'm also absolutely certain you'd sympathize with people protesting against a men-only screening. Stop lying.

Nice of you to accuse me of lying. You know nothing about me. I am not lying at all. I will not feel upset if men only screening happened for some movie if I can see it somewhere else. Just because you can't accept that idea yourself doesn't mean others can't. But if imagining I'm lying helps you sleep at night , then go a head.
