Taking a Dory Monday decrease isn't quite fair b/c that movie had about 100% schools out...taking a GOTG2/B&TB Monday decrease also isn't fair b/c that had 0% out...making it about 1/2 of each (since what 50% of schools are out) should have been WW's goal and it hit it (it pretty much hit Pets 59.5%...and Pets had a heckuva ending multiplier:)...

I'd love it to keep matching Pets, but I'm realistic...sometimes...

But Pets' +29%, -27%, -6% would be great:)...more than can ever be expected since all schools aren't out yet, even...so I'm gonna hope for the best!:)  And yet, I'll still be uber-happy with +20-25%, -30-35%, and - 8-10%...

I like Pets as a comparison dream goal b/c that movie had few people who thought it was gonna break out (although I did - yeah for getting 2 right last summer, since I blew Dory:)), it kept building and building through the weekend, and then it had staying power (even against Dory) for weeks...and it was less well-reviewed than WW, so its full summer timing vs WW's early summer timing could be mitigated...

Wait so you're unhappy with using Dory number because many more schools were out than in first week of June, but it's a-ok to use Pets numbers even though that came out 2nd week of July with all schools out??? WUT :wintf:

Btw Gitesh also tweeted same number around same time as ERC although they could be using the same source

Being conservative:

14m (+20%)

9.1m (-35%)

8.2m (-10%)

13.1m (+60%)

18.3m (+40%)

13.7m (-25%)

45m second weekend (-56.5%); 191.3m total.

Like I said above, this is quite conservative, though, so could easily go higher.

Conservative? I think you're being optimistic; Man of steel fell on Tuesday and made $ 11.5 (8-), I think you prediction of increase (+20) on Tuesday is high, but let's see.

Discount Tuesdays have dramatically increased since 2013. I tend to always be conservative with Tuesdays (and usually I'm too low) but I think at least a modest increase is in order.

Let's get to a point where Carol can lead a team of Avengers composed of an 80% female roster, and it doesn't seem out of the ordinary.

Hmmm, unfortunately I don't think that's who Blanchett is playing in Ragnarok.

Yup, b/c Pets weekend mirrored WW's build, it was the same unexpected last minute breakout, and with lower reviews vs WW, that should offset the summer timing difference...and they opened within $1M of each other:)...if I had a dream multiplier goal, it would be Pets.

Do I expect WW to be Pets?  Not yet, although if Cars 3 and DM3 are bad, that would go a LONG way to seeing that kinda breakout, but that's info we can't know yet, except both films are 3+ sequels (since they have offshoot films weighing them down, plus they are the 3rd in line, too)...

Ice Age 5 being bad and a 5thquel aided Pets breakout last year...timing and quality of other films do matter...

Why wouldn't WW increase today? When was the last time a movie didn't increase on a Tuesday with discount Tuesdays being as big as they are?

Even films with toxic WOM have increased on Tuesday.

I think you have the total wrong for the first one .... $162 is too low ...it should be atleast $185+

You're right.  Discount Tuesdays have gotten progressively bigger every year.  The last time a film decreased on the same Tuesday was The Fault in Our Stars.  But that had a really strange run.

You have to go all the way back to 2013 to find films decreasing on the second or first Tuesday in June.  But that was eons ago.  Discount Tuesdays are just too big now so WW is guaranteed to increase today.
