Nah. $400M+. Adding Wonder Woman, Aquaman, etc. to go along with Bats, Supes and everyone else.

I don't see it having any sort of big jump like that, since I think most of the the folks excited to see people like Aquaman, etc are already huge DC fans who would've seen BVS

I guess we'll find out.

nah. WW was hailed by feminists. Justice League won't have that going for it. It will also see more of a negative impact from the reception of BvS. Now if it's as well received as Wonder Woman then maybe it can match it.

Controversial opinion: If they do what I think they're going to do in JL, it's going to underperform not because it's hated by feminists but because it's hated by men.  One of the good things people are saying about WW is that Steve Trevor is a very strong male character.  Moms can take their boys to see it because they won't feel like they're being put down.

Superman and Batman in BvS can in no way be called strong.  Superman was just weak, and Batman was the male equivalent of when a writer thinks "strong female character" means "psychopathic bitch".  I think they're going to continue this in JL by

Spoiler

having Superman come back to life evil and be working for Darkseid, as implied by Batman's dream sequence future vision.  Since Superman is now fighting for real, Batman needs the whole Justice League to help him, but it's still basically Batman v. Superman II: Electric Boogaloo.

Fair. I guess I should've said $375M+.

I'm hoping the lessons learned are:

1. Lighten up a little (not a lot...we don't need Deadpool on screen, but we don't need a funeral dirge, either)

2. KISS (Keep it Simple, Stupid) Tell a tight story, not an all-over-the-place nonsensical messy epic

3. Let the heroes be heroes, and the heroes we know them as - pill-popping, alcoholic killer Batman doesn't need to be here - he's a little dark, not a psychopathic Punisher

4. Try to nail the 4 quadrants - keep the material for teens/adults, but not the actual filmed presentation - ie, Star Wars/WW it (letting imagination do the work, not the camera when it comes to violence, sex, etc)...

If it does this, the sky will be the limit for the movie, especially if it can stay in all those holiday days (getting both Thanksgiving and Christmas)...gotta show 4 quadrants to do that...

Projecting the weekend using estimated $6.03 million Thursday:

FRI: $9.9 million (+65%)

SAT: $14.3 million (+45%)

SUN: $12.9 million (-10%)

--------

WEEKEND TOTAL: $37.1 million (-36.6%)

I don't personally feel $40 million is in store, but I'm happy to be proven wrong, and I think anything $35+ million would be terrific!

Peace,

Mike

I think this is more of a worst case scenario. Thinking something like:

Fri: 10.2m

Sat: 16m

Sun: 16m

WEEKEND: 42.2M (-28%)

My high end 57M prediction for last weekend was actually too low. Let's see if that happens again. :D

I do hope you're right. I do think that the Saturday increase could be stronger than I have it, but I am very hesitant to expect anything larger than a 65% increase on Friday. Last weekend it increased just over 70%. We've now hit mid-June and the strong summer weekdays generally start to mute those Friday increases. But who knows...

The other thing I am unsure of is how Father's Day will play out for Wonder Woman. Since the film is leaning more female than your usual comic book film, I'm expecting a small drop on the Sunday rather than an even hold/small increase. But that is definitely up in the air.

Peace,

Mike

I updated it to show who wins each respective day. Already each films' strengths on on display: DP's huge opening (aided by incredible first Sunday and Monday), GOTG2's equally huge opening (aided by large previews and strong performance throughout OW), SPIDEY's monster weekend-to-weekend holds, and WW's strong summer weekdays.
