Titanic seemed to get a lot of shit by people from numerous people. I feel the reception has warmed up a little bit in recent years but only a little. Idk. I'm probably wrong but I'm not in a mood to argue over it. You make a good point. I'm not trying to argue either......and perhaps you are right. How exactly has it's reputation improved over time? http://www.theyshootpictures.com/gf1000_all1000films_rankinghistory.htm In the they shoot picture top 1000 movie of all time (a project that try to compile critics views of movie over time using many top list and individual critics: 5,495 individual and 3,302 miscellaneous lists detailed below), it went from: TITANIC (James Cameron) ▪ 0 → 973 → 0 → 0 → 0 → 0 → 0 → 0 → 661 → 622 → 619 → 730 Showing an uptrend among them. It is a movie that aged extremely well special effect wise, a bit like Saving private Ryan and other movies from the end of the 90's that used small amount of CGI and for stuff often not in the foreground, those movie were followed by a lot of blockbuster that will not age really well on the SFX/VFX side compared to them. It went up on RT since 2004 (I imagine a bunch of new reviews on the 3D re-release) and made one of the most impressive re-release box office run. On imdb it was at 6.9/10 in 2004, now it is at 7.7/10 https://web.archive.org/web/20040329225943/http://www.imdb.com:80/title/tt0120338/ratings http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120338/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rt Back then it was an hated movie by the Internet young crowd quite a bit (10% of 1/10), same for Dicaprio now it is really cool for men to like him versus back then (the worst rating were from men 18-29).
