I cannot wait to see what Reeves does with Batman. Hearing him talking about a noir detective type of film makes me giddy as hell.

He certainly has my trust after what he did with Dawn and now War. We could be getting the GOAT Batman movie.

It's hard to compare War to other modern blockbusters because it's so different.  But if I had to do a top of my head top 10 big budget blockbusters of the decade it'd be (not definitive)

1. Gravity

2. Inside Out

3. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

4. Life of Pi

5. Mad Max: Fury Road

6. Deadpool

7. Guardians of the Galaxy

8. War for the Planet of the Apes

9. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 2

10. Logan

Crimson Peak is fantastic, so Del Toro has my full trust.

Honestly, the reactions on here+my theater's dead silence towards the trailer makes me think the December 8 release date is fine. Theaters won't want it over the already packed holidays, and it can always expand again when Oscar nominations are out if it gets big notices.

Something went wrong with our computers at the theatre tonight and any ticket that was like a voucher couldn't get punched into the system, so for numbers the best I can do is a rough guesstimate.

Apes 15-16M, Spider-Man dropped pretty big, Despicable stated flat if not increased (!). But hopefully the computers get fixed so I can get more precise numbers.

I liked Crimson Peak. Kind of annoying that trailer is not online.

WAR was good (damn good) but very brutal. I've seen it mentioned in this thread, but it's true that it's not the kind of film that can really be watched more than once.

Top 5 for the year so far:

Get Out

Logan

War for the Planet of the Apes

It Comes at Night

Spider-Man: Homecoming

And yeah, GET OUT is still far and away the best film of the year for me. Not really seeing too much that can challenge it at this point except for Dunkirk, Blade Runner and a couple others.

The mall is on Atom and the local isn't, right...I'm just trying to keep getting my head around how much of an effect their deal (which is still ongoing to a lesser extent) might have had...
