ugh Horror movies have no staying power

Maybe not the typical affair that get only the horror crowd, but movie that break out:

Split/Get out/Black Swan (we could debate how horror they were vs other genre) had great staying power.

Don't breathe made 3.38x, Conjuring made 3.3, exception are not that uncommon.

Early congrats to Girls Trip for passing $100M today. It should also finish at #10 for the summer. I don't think very many people were predicting either of those accomplishments before the summer started.

The film is hysterical and anybody who has not seen it should definitely check it out.

Great number for Homecoming. Doubling Suicide Squad, still ahead of GotG on dailies and is now $1m ahead of SS. Squad made $4.7m on its 7th weekend. If Homecoming manages to go ahead this weekend, I'd argue that it's definitely going above $325m with great shots at $330m-$335m dom.

I watched Alien Covenant today and was bored out of my skull. It's the dullest and dumbest film that I've seen in a while.

:apocalypse:

I guess if I had to make an underrated films

of 2017 list, Covenant would probably be in the top 5 at this rate

get out wasn't really a straight horror, more like comedy thriller, The way I regard as horror as there are supernatural/paranormal element in the film, get out didn't have either

So much wrong with that.

Slashers are horror and don't usually have a supernatural or paranormal element. Torture porn doesn't either.

IT isn't Annabelle. You don't know what IT's legs will be like anymore than I do. I've said this before and I'll say it again, I distinctly remember people saying that Wonder Woman was going to have the same legs as all the other DCEU movies because it's a DCEU film. It depends on the rewatchability factor and the audience makeup.

The Wednesday numbers threads are always tough to be in because people always overreact to these numbers. Lol
