Is now a bad time to mention that the Ragnarok trailer won't escape me, @aabattery? I've gotten it at Guardians twice, at Wonder Woman, and ROUGH NIGHT of all movies.

I've gotten it 3 times: both times I saw GOTG and The Mummy :) It's part of Baby Driver's super small mix too, so I'll definitely get it there :)

I forgot to post this crowd report on Thursday when I saw 47 Meters Down, but whatever, fuck it.

47 Meters Down

7:00 PM, June 15, 80% full

AMC Starplex Loudoun 11

Trailers

Kidnap

Happy Death Day

Baby Driver

War for the Planet of the Apes

Geostorm

Wish Upon

Friend Request (no reaction, besides me laughing at how fucking stupid it looks)

Hardly any reaction besides some jumps, gasps, especially at the twist, and that annoying bitch in the back of the theater. I enjoyed the movie. It's a fun B movie but I thought the diolague and shark effects could've had better work. That shit was tense and suspenseful though. Maybe I'll make a more "in-depth" review in the RTM thread. 6/10.

Some people seemed audibly scared throughout the movie.  Other moments had people laughing at inappropriate times.  People liked it, I think.

Transformers: The Last Knight 3D

June 20, 8:00 PM, 20% full

Regal Morgantown Stadium 12, Morgantown, WV

Trailers:

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets "Stars of Hope" ad

(for some reason after this point they told us to put on our 3D glasses despite a majority of trailers not being in 3D)

Wish Upon

Dunkirk (a 5-second trailer, murmurs)

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (murmurs)

Dunkirk (another different 5-second trailer)

Detroit (murmurs)

Dunkirk (YET ANOTHER DIFFERENT 5-SECOND TRAILER, murmurs)

War for the Planet of the Apes

An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power (laughs at Trump, murmurs)

There was a noticeable amount of laughter throughout the film.  Some was intentional, while in other parts you could clearly tell the audience was laughing at the movie instead of with it.

Transformers: The Last Knight

June 23, 6:00PM, 90% full in a 72 seat auditorium

AMC Starplex Loudoun 11, VA

Trailers

Dunkirk (quick trailer #1, murmurs)

Thor: Ragnarok (laughs)

The Hitman's Bodyguard (laughs)

Despicable Me 3 (laughs)

Dunkirk (quick trailer #2, murmurs)

Spider-Man: Homecoming (laughs)

Dunkirk (quick trailer #3, murmurs)

War for the Planet of the Apes (murmurs)

Dunkirk (quick trailer #4, murmurs)

Daddy's Home 2 (laughs)

Lots of laughs at points. Other than that, no reaction. As for the movie itself, I am appalled about what I just watched. The film had very few good moments, but all of the shitty writing, storytelling, humor, and plot holes overshadows those moments. I mean holy fuck. This movie is terrible in almost every fucking way! Micheal Bay, you say this is your last one. Please keep that promise.

2/10

Laughing throughout. I could tell the audience was deeply invested. The movie was fantastic! Edgar Wright has been proven to be a talented filmmaker, and his style makes this movie. Some of the best car sequences I've ever seen! Not his best film but it's still a masterpiece. One of my favorite action films of the decade so far. 10/10.

Despicable Me 3 2D

June 29, 6:00 PM, 20% full

Regal Fox Stadium 16 & IMAX, VA

There were rather strange occurrences with the projector before the film started. The Regal Silence your cellphones now thing was shown, and everything was fine until we got to the Regal roller coaster please enjoy these coming attractions thingy, and I noticed... The screen was just colored pink. So a lady went to go talk to someone working at the theater, and then we get to the trailers which are still pink colored and here were the first two trailers that were in color pink...

Trailers

Pitch Perfect 3

Daddy's Home 2 - laughs

At this point everyone was wondering what the hell was up and then something even stranger happens. They show the Please put on your 3D glasses ad. Here is the next trailer...

Ferdinand 3D trailer - laughs

This is the point when the audience is wondering what the fuck is going on. So apperently they accidentally showed the 3D showing, so people who worked there gave everyone 3D glasses. That was bizzare.

The Lego Ninjago Movie 2D trailer - laughs

My Little Pony: The Movie 2D trailer - no reaction besides a kid in the audience making vomit noises.

The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature 2D trailer - laughs

Coco 3D trailer

Then the movie starts. It's going fine until the Illumination logo. The projector Mildly fucked up and it went to black screen then pink. The audience at this point is amused by whatever the fuck was happening. This goes on for about 5-10 seconds then the film comes on and it's 2D. So that was fucking bizzare. I've never really had experiences like that but everything is fine after that.

Reactions

Not much. Just a couple laughs. The quiet crowd honestly kind of suprised me.

The Film

The film was pretty dissapointing. I won't say it's flat out bad because it's a fine kids film, but they could've done so much better. I found some annoying humor, cringy subplots, and some plot holes, but there was quite a bit of good stuff in there. Whenever Trey Parkers character is on screen the movie is gold. I like Gru in this one like always. Fantastic animation in this one and some nice moments. Like I said, it's not a bad movie but they could've done so much better. This is coming from someone who enjoyed the first two films. 5/10.

The Lost City Of Z

NW FL 1PM

About 12 people in our dollar theater.

  • This was my first visit to our *cough cough* Renovated theaters into AMC. People had comments about the preshow because it kept just randomly appearing between commercials. One lady was like "Can they just pick something and go with it?"

Trailers

Marshall (which I kept calling Thurgood before the title hit) [One old man in the crowd was like "Yeah, I want to see that!"]

Maudie [No response]

The Mountain Between Us [There was some reaction but I don't recall what it was]

There were some good reactions and laughter at points. One couple came in late and the guy almost sat on me because he couldn't see me in my all black ensemble in the dark. Some idiot to my left kept crinkling packages so I had to move to the front after about an hour.  This movie didn't need to be as long as it was.

Spoiler

ending was a bummer but at that point I was just glad it was over because I was tired.
